Too Early To WORRY?
I am new to Obesityhelp.com and I have read several post over the past week or so about not loosing and gaining weight early Post-Op.
I am just starting my 5th week Post-Op! I have lost 25 lbs since this whole journey began, which is GREAT!!
My concern is that I can still only manage to eat mushy type foods because anything remotely solid hurts and I usually can't keep it down. I have tried taking smaller bites and chewing FOREVER and this hasn't helped. I feel like the food gets stuck and it hurts and I have to cough it back up...gross I know! My husband HATES it and is worried!
I am eating refried beans (often), mash potatoes (weekly), oatmeal, scrambled eggs (if they are not cooked too well done), broth and creamy soups, and of course: SF jello, pudding, and fudge pops. I am sick of protein shakes, soups and mushy foods!!
I think I may just be frustrated because I am ready to eat real food like chicken, fish, and veggies.
If there are some good high protein means for someone at my stage of Post-Op please let me know. I am open for suggestions!
I have also NOT lost any more weight in the past week and 1/2 or so. I know that's not a long time but it's scary to think that I am stopping already!
Plus: my doctor made a comment at my first Post-Op visit that I would probably loose 10 more pounds by my next visit...which is next week (UGH). I have only lost 5-6 lbs since my first Post-Op visit. I know he will not be mad but I am mad that he put that kind of number on the weight loss and I haven't reached it and I probably won't by next Friday. GRRRR!!
He says over and over that 1 - 1.5 lbs a week is NORMAL but then makes the comment that I will probably loose 10 lbs in 3-4 weeks. I am just venting!! :)
Thanks for any advice!!

Hi !!
I think you are doing great. You lost a lot of weight you should be proud, doing a lot better than me. I eat softer meat: chicken, tuna, any type of fish, stay away from red meat unless its ground beef. I haven't gotten my first fill yet- coming up May 5. I can basically eat as long as I take my time. But I only lost about 13 lbs- You are doing alot better than me. Have you had your fill yet? My problem is I eat the wrong foods, I need to stick with more protein and less carbs. I think it'll get better for you as time goes by- I know it did for me.
Good luck and keep it up!
Anna
