I seem to have developed an aversion to meat
I'm just about 4 weeks out and I started noticing the change in my palate about a week ago. I started to not enjoy the texture of meat and after that, I suddenly developed an extreme aversion to the smell of meat being cooked. It's odd to me because when I first got home, the aroma of cooked meat was very enticing. Now, it makes me nauseous. I will say, that I made a noodleless lasagna that caused severe dumping. There was quite a bit of meat in it.(I did puree my portion to within an inch of it's life). Could that experience have triggered the aversion? Has anyone else experienced something like this?
How funny...I JUST logged on to post something similar! For me, it's not the smell, but it feels like a lead ball in my tummy, and I usually throw up!
My advice to you is to try portabella mushrooms as a meat substitute and split pea soup (I eat Andersen's). This (and cheese, although I try to keep it at a minimum) has been the best way to get protein in my diet.

I am 2 months out from lap band surgery. From the support group I attended last week, I gather that everyone has a problem with something but that it varies greatly from person to person. I can eat beef, pork, turkey, fish fine - but chicken often gives me problems. I can eat tortillas and stone ground cornbread but no white bread, even if its toasted. Eggs also give me a problem - the only way that I've been able to comfortably eat them is in a frittata.
Thanks for the advice! I have been substituting tofu for meat and that's been working well, but I will try portabella mushrooms, too. I find that I can't do cheese anymore without vomiting (bummer) so I've just increased the amount of protein I put in my fruit smoothies to compensate. I hope this passes, though.
