Very Confused...Am I doing something wrong?
Sorry in advance this is a long post, but I really don't know what to do, so I didn't know what info might be important!
So I'm currently down 43 lbs in 6 months with the Lap Band, and I got my latest fill Thursday. What's different about this last fill is the first time it was too tight...so he had to take some out before I left the office. After my fill, I went to meet a friend for dinner, and couldn't eat anything, all of it bounced. A few hours later I could eat the leftovers, so I figured that I was full on water from his office.
The next day I tried tuna tar tar with avacado, overate a little (only had maybe 1-2oz) and bounced slightly, but overall kept it down. I was able to easily drink tea and water, etc. I had popcorn at the movie that night, but had a little trouble. Afterwards, I went to the bar with my fiance, where I had a few beers. After surgery, my tolerance has gone down significantly, so I kept it at 3. However, I was 'craving' food and I was able to eat a small fries and 4 chicken nuggets from McDonalds! I haven't been able to eat starchy things like that for a while.
The next day, I could eat less, soup for lunch, half a chicken tender and a cup of salad, some more chicken before I went to bed, I could drink soda and water with no issues.
Today is scaring me though! I woke up, tried tomato soup, it all bounced, water had the same effect. I tried some 100 cal packs of popcorn, some of that went through. All soda bounced and I really haven't been able to eat ANYTHING. I don't know if this means I have a slippage or if its just really tight. I've noticed that when I drink I can eat a lot more than sober, and I'm not really sure why. Is this how tight its supposed to be? i haven't lost a huge amount of weight, so I'm not sure if I should be concerned and call my doctor or if I should tough through it because it is just because it might have been overfilled and now I have swelling? Any advice would be amazing!

I am just guessing as I have no real clue, but maybe you should try what they suggeste dpost op the first time. I assume you had some specific kind of diet after intial surgeyr. Try that and intorduce the other stuff slowly again. This new tightening maybe enough to be like a nw surgery. Ie new small stomache pouch may not tolerate all the foods you eat normally. Good luck and like I say its just a guess, Perhaps try the lap band forum someone else may have a better answer. GL and GB k
I'm a bypass patient so I'll start with the fact that I have no personal experience with the band. I do have a good friend with the band and she is suppossed to have only liquids for 24 hours after her fill. If she doesn't she has increased irritation. so that could be your issue. I am also concerned about your drinking soda and beer, and eating fast food and popcorn. These are all huge "NO-NO" for me. As is drinking during or around meal time. However, we've had completely different surgeries and those things may be on your plan. I agree with the other person that posted. It might be best to go back to basics. sort of start all over. Good luck

Oh my goodness, I am sure you couldn't keep food down the day of a fill. You should ALWAYS go on liquids for a few days after a fill, there is swelling and each time you get stuck you swell more. The more you swell the more you throw up.
Whenever you get a fill try clears x2 days, fulls x2 days, and soft foods x2 days.
I'm not the least bit surprised you weren't able to eat the day of the fill, most cannot.
WHY, after having bariatric surgery, and ESPECIALLY after a fill, are you drinking BEER?! Soda is bad enough, popcorm is a DEFINITE no no, but beer? Really? What's the point of the surgery if you're not going to follow the diet? And McDonalds?
I'm less concerned for your too-tight tummy than your eating habits...I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with the surgery if you're eating the worst things you could possibly put in your mouth!
