Beck's Week 1 Day 1
As I've said previously, I'll be discussing Beck's by using 1 of Beck's Days for an entire week. That means that it will take 7 calendar weeks to cover 7 of Beck's Days.
The title for Beck's Week 1 is to "Create a Foundation for Success." Since most of us are trying to follow a diet - pre or post, I suggest that we not stop following our diet while we learn to create that foundation. Dr Beck does say to treat our current attemp at dieting like training for a marathon. That seems fair to me.
I'm looking for long term success. Most of us have already had short term success following our WLS and now we either want to maintain that success or to recover from returning to poor eating habits. We know that WLS can prevent us from eating large quantities of food at individual meals. But, we can sabotage our weightloss and our thinking by returning to our former ways. As many people have said, WLS is an operation on our stomachs and not on our brains.
DAY 1 advises us to Review the Advantages of Dieting. I think Dr Beck is sneaky. She doesn't ask us why we want to diet. Rather, she asks why we want to lose weight. They are similar but different. As far as methodology, as a man, I simply don't have a convenient place to be carrying around all of the cards she speaks about. So, I put my various lists in one of those little 3" x 5" memo pads that I could easily put in any pocket. I know most women can carry a purse and keep it there. My method may even work for them since you can have it sitting inconspicuously on a desk or night table or anyplace else where you may want to read it over.
I worked this program last year, so I do have some insights. But, I do need your strength and support. I'll write more about Day 1 today or later in the week.

I have been going there, but you are all on different days of the program over there. That's fine and seems to be working. Beck's is not new to me and I want to slowly review it. Since I have been through the program, I can help people with how I worked individual Days. I can't say I worked the program perfectly, but I enjoyed perfect abstinence from 01-08-09 thru 05-20-09.
I was not perfectly abstinate after that, but I did continue to lose weight.
