Cannot get food to go down and stay down.
I am currently 2 1/2 months p.o. gastric bypass. I'm having trouble getting my food to go down and stay down. Not even able to take my vitamins and supplements. This is causing me to be tired and irritable. At 6 wks. my Dr. said that the opening into the new stomach on some people swells during healing, thus causing a tighter space for food to go into. Suggested I go back to just liquid diet. I did for a few more weeks started back on solids slowly, same thing all over. I eat the food and chew, chew, chew. HaHa But it comes back up after 2-4 bites. I just don't understand.
About the only things I can eat without that problem are (all is sugar -free) jello, pudding, soup, tea and Popsicles.
Now, here's the other question I have. Why does my stomach gurgle way down low when I can get something to stay down??????? Its not in the upper portion of my stomach, it's on my left side only, from below my breast to the lower portion of my "old" stomach.
If anyone can tell me why these things are going on , I should would appreciate it.

I had similar issues with food for about the first 6 months - in fact, I vomited at least once a day from months 2-6. The only solid protien I was able to tolerate was fish (not shrimp or shellfish) so I pretty much lived on protein shakes. It sucked, royally sucked. Some of us are unlucky enough to have this side effect - but for most people it really does go away after a while. I will still throw up of I eat certain things (like pasta) but at 2 1/2 years out I tolerate nearly everything.
As for the stomach gurgling - it's pretty normal. Mine sometimes makes so much noise it's embarassing! It's probably not your "old" stomach, but your intestines that are making all the racket.
Hope some of this helps - hang in there!
