Starving on Optifast - do you feel the same after surgery?
Hello All,
I have been so hungry on these optifast shakes, I have to drink them for two weeks prior to surgery (Dec 7 )
Here is my question to those that have had the surgery.
Is your hunger the same feeling after surgery?
Please say no.... i'm starving, no amount of shake & water is going to fill me up.
Thanks for your feedback
Siobhan

No. You are on a liquid diet now but you still have your full sized stomach. Once you have your surgery, your new pouch will be about the size of your thumb (after 6 months it will eventually grow to be about the size of your fist). At first, it will take very little to make you feel satisfied. Go to Forums>Weight Related>Diet and Nutrition: on the far right side go the the link for nutritional guidlines. It explaing the various stages of the post-op diet and how much you should be eat in the early stages. You should have most of this info in packets from your surgeion's office.
Enjoy the ride. Once you do have your surgery, find a forum where you feel comfortable and you can share your experiences and eventually mentor other newbies. I feel that people who have the fresh experience of having just finished one phase of the post-op diet can help someone who is right behind them in recovery.
