Hi All,

There is a new OH Online Support Group. The above link will get you there.
It's called
Crossing Over to Transfer Addictions

This group discusses the issue of transfer addictions (also known as cross addictions) after weight loss surgery. there are millions of people who have undergone gastric bypass who are now dealing with issues of addiction transfer.

For a number of people, giving up overeating leads to adoption of a new compulsion. Addiction transfer occurs when someone is unable or unwilling to rely on one compulsion (for us, it was food) and so switches to a new compulsion (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, internet, porn, etc) due to not having dealt with the underlying issue behind the compulsion.

***Please feel free (and safe) to join and discuss any and/all issues you have regarding Transfer Addiction. ***

WE WILL SUPPORT EACH OTHER WITHOUT JUDGEMENT!

I have not had the surgery yet. When I do have it, I want to have the RNY. I just realized and told my husband the other day that I think I am addicted to food and never realized it.  I made a post in one of my blogs stating this and asked if there is anything I can do to change my addiction to something else. I don't want to get into a "bad" addiction like alcohol, drugs, or sex or anything like this.

Would this site be good for me even though I have not had the surgery yet? Thanks so much.

Treasa

Also would like to say thanks for the post. I bet it will help many people who do not want to say they have a problem.

If you are wanting to do the liquid diet and lose weight you just need to set your mind to it and get on with it.  The liquid diet consists of 80 grams of protein a day along with water, diet jello, clear broth, sugar free koolaid and flavored water.  That is it.  It was the hardest thing I ever did but knew I needed to for my surgery.
