Well I am 9 weeks out and eating real foods and I have meet with both the bariatric nurse and nutrionist I am getting conflicting info.  Nurse says protein nothing at all else.  Nutrionist says I should be eatting veggies and all to just in super small amounts.  So what works?  I love meat and fish, eggs and all just dont think that that is all I should be eating.  I eat my protein first then a bite or two of veggie or whatever.  I am getting supper confused.

I'd go with what the nutritionist said.  After over 2 months, you can't just eat protein only.  That is kind of an impossible thing to live up to.  I'm 2 WEEKS out and I can't get the protein in!
I just had mashed potatoes and I feel nauseous.  I had oatmeal earlier and felt nauseous.  There's no way I can add protein powder to it because I wouldn't be able to eat at all!
The people who tell us to get 60 g of protein a day and 64 water obviously aren't doing it themselves, or they'd realize how badly you want to move on and eat other foods and try to start feeling normal again.
From everything I've been told and read, what you're doing is right, so don't worry about it.

Yeah, it was WORK to get the 60-80 grams in and the 64 ounces when I was post-op! I felt like it was my full-time JOB. Except I wasn't getting paid for it!

I had to do a lot of protein shakes in the first months. I would take 8 ounces of skim milk, two scoops of protein powder, blend the bejeezus out of it, tap the cup so the bubbles would rise to the top and not cause me a gas-tummy ache, and sip that thing over the course of several hours. It was dreadful, BUT it represented 54 grams of protein.

The remaining 6 were easier to get. And sipping throughout the day becomes a bit of a habit.

But I know what it's like to want to MOVE ON! My first bite of real chicken was like Manna from Heaven!

Well I  am allowed to eat real food and I do.  We are told no mor protein shakes.  It all just gets very confusing.  And on the last 40 pounds I lost I platoed for about a week but now we are off and running again.

I'm 3 years post RNY and the thing I always hear is PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN.
I found one that tasted good, has a selection of flavors (and you can blend it with lots of different things) and you can order it right off the internet and it comes to your door.
PLUS the distributor I get mine from is GREAT - his wife is actually also a gastric bypass patient and the two of them are so helpful and will answer any questions you have!
their website is www.jraymall.com
