Pork rinds/Chicharrones...

Ok, well I love mexican foods and the spicier the better, I had not had any as of last week. I had also been on a 2 week plateau...then a few days ago I bought some pork rinds (my surgeon eats them everyday) they were so yummy and they settled very well with me. I ate only 1 serving which (80 cal, 5g fat, 7g of protein) satisfied me, I did this for 4 days. I have lost more weight, no longer in a plateau.  Maybe because I added in a snack, I'm not sure why I've lost but happy that I did.

My question is, does anyone else that had RNY eat these? Are they really all that bad since I have portion control and the nutrition doesn't seem bad?

Ok, so last night I talked to the Bariatric Program Coordinator and she said they were fine to eat. In fact, she recommended a Cinnamon pork rind that is supposed to be delicious. So I am searching for them now.

Nothing wrong with pork rinds or cracklins.  I've used them to make nachos with and if you heat them in the oven you can add tuna salad on top for extra protein.  You could probably take plain ones and make your own with cinammon.

I also read that someone used them in a meatloaf to replace crackers.  Worked well for that.  I love them and I feel very full on a small serving.  It helps when I want chips or popcorn.
