I was just wondering if any of you had a feeling a of upset, not throwing up, but just an upset feeling when you first tried to eat the second stage of the post op diet?  I tried a little very soft cheese chewed very well, and it made me feel a little funny.  Did anyone have trouble going from liquids to softs?  Thanks!

Is your second stage full liquids or puree's?  My 2nd stage is full liquids and the only thing close to cheese on my list is cottage cheese.  Real cheese doesn't come until Puree's I think, which would be next week for me.  But, to answer your question, I did feel weird when I had a yogurt after not having anything but fluids for two weeks almost.  I think a lot of my feeling funny was "nerves" about trying it and wondering if it will get stuck or even cause me it dump for some strange reason.  I did definitely feel weird though.  With each new food I put into my mouth, I have that extra added fear of something not working right.  For me that's personally because a pill got stuck in me 2 days after surgery and I had to be reoperated on, but I think you know my story .

But honestly, I think it's normal!  When you get something stuck, you will definitely notice. As long as there is no foaming up through the mouth or vomiting, I think it's all good!

I tried some yogurt last night also. I got sweaty, crampy and just plain not feeling well. I didn't dump or anything close to it. But i also agonized over even trying anything yesterday. I did eat a few tiny pieces of a scrambled egg before that during the day. I'm not sure it may have been the sugars in the yogurt for me. Or it could have been anxiety. I'm gonna try again. Just not soon.

Thank you both for replying.  I appreciate you letting me know about your experiences.

I am on the soft pureed diet now.  I am having a teaspoon of creamy peanut butter and 2 whole wheat crackers for lunch.  So far, I am ok.  I really think I am just nervous.  Afraid I am going to mess this up.

Good Luck to both of you on your diets!

Hugs!

Post-op,  Dairy products make me feel extremely full, and a little nausea. I found out that I was lactose intolerent after surgery. My Dr. said it's pretty common and it may subside later on.

Never had this problem pre-op, but I do now. Other soft foods that are non-dairy are fine with me.

good luck to you.
