It often hurts to eat solid food

I will be 4 months out from surgery on 9/26. During the initial soft foods stage,. I ate 3x per day and rarely had problems with what I ate. Now even a sip of water can hurt when it hits bottom. I often only eat a snack and dinner and make do with a protien shake plus a shot and sometimes a bar from breakfast until then. I do get all my fluids and supplements in as well. I am suddenly having what seem to be GERD symptoms, but hate to take omeprezole because although it seems to solve the problem. it makes it difficult to detect when I am full. There is also evidence it messes with nutrient absorbtion in people who have NOT had GBS, which concerns me even more. My labs looked great at 3 mos and my weight loss is outstanding, but I hate experiencing discomfort even with just a bite or sip. I would appreciate some feedback.

You might be developing an ulcer, which can be very serious. You need to see your surgeon and describe your symptoms--he might want to follow up with some tests.

If the medicine works, take it. As for detecting fullness, simply eat very small portions throughout the day--no more than a bite or two. At your stage, your pouch is still very small and doesn't take much to be filled.

Good luck!
