I am glad you posted this... I hope there are others who may chime in so we know why this happens.  I had my bypass surgery 12/15 and I STILL have this problem.

I guessed it was because we swallow to much air with all the extra chewing we have to do.  Not sure if that is the case I am also not sure how to get rid of it.

All the time! Sometimes it can make the meal that I finally got down with no problem, a F-N problem. So frustrating! And boy if I get something that didn't go down right (food feels like its getting stuck) and a burp is trying to make its way out and can't and I have to wait til the food starts moving before the burp is released, drives me crazy.I'm only starting my 4 week out, I hope it gets easier.

Same here with the burping. But as one person said once I do...I feel so much better!

For me, even after sipping a small amount of water, up comes the gas. It's a continuous rumbling  that creeps up my thorat. I sat with my husband in the movie theatre after we had eaten at a restaurant and he complained of the the strange gassy noises emanating from my throat. I couldn't help it.

I also have the same thing, I just equate it to before my surgery when I are and was full I would burp, so know I'm burping all the time, because my pouch is so small every time I take a bite of something I get full . This concept is my own thoughts, and not a educated evaluation.

I am 3 years out and still burp after every meal... my friends call me and then say did you just finish eating?? cause I am attempting quiet burping while on the phone... sometimes they/I think this is very funny other times its just plain annoying!

my theory is that our stomaches are so small that we are pushing the air down our small intestine with the food and those little burps make way for the food to plop down further.... mind you I also have a silastic ring and it may be the food plopping past it instead!

PSSS as previous poster said this is a theory only!
