Hi Sexy Pouches!

So last week I couldent eat a damn thing without either having to poop or throw up. I have to be honest, I think I was sick all of last week because on Monday of last week I had the insane idea to eat boneless buffalo wings, not a good idea! I guess I learn by trying things for myself! I literally could not eat a thing for the rest of the week and weekend. This week I feel like I am overeating!!!! I am six weeks post op today! I was down to 188 and this morning I am 189! AHHHHHH has anyone experienced gaining a pound? Is it jus****er weight or am I overeating? I am def. freaking out! Last week when I couldent eat I felt awful, I was pale and had absolutley no energy! This week now that I am eating I feel great, tons more energy. Just dont know what to make of this and need your help! Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated!

Ohhh the pouch, mine can be a little ***** sometimes lol...Plus my baby pouch loves tortilla chips with cheese and salsa, I am guessing I should stay away from that?

Love you guys! Please help!

Love,

Jackie

I went through this in 2003.  1 pound gained is probably water retention or water gain.  Actually taking in MORE fluids will flush this type of weight gain out...help you heal, deal with your hunger and cravings too.  Look up 'water loading'.  Also - GET IN YOUR PROTEIN SHAKES once a day for energy if you don't feel like eating solid foods, don't - puree them.  I could only eat eggs, mashed potatos (with protein power - unflavored) and saltine crackers with peanut butter at your stage.  That's ME, of course and none of those things I named are optimal.  The harder your stomach has to work to digest something - the more sick you get - it's not healed yet.

STAY AWAY from all 'former' life foods if you know what's good for you - or it will just get out of hand.  I speak from experience.  Try making cheese chips.  You bake cheddar cheese in a cookie sheet so that it forms a big crispy sheet of cheese - let if dry a little and break into chips. It's actually good.  Also - if you have to eat chips - eat some made out of whole grains - they fill you up more - I still think that it's a thin line to walk so early on.

For petesake eat the right foods and don't worry about how much - eat 3-4 ounces of protein and you should not be able to eat more than that - just chew chew chew and make it a moist version - you HAVE TO HAVE YOUR NUTRITION or you can go down hill fast.

I have to comment too - you are 188 ?  That's my goal!  What was your start?

Hello:

My name is Chris and I just had the Gastric Bypass procedure on the 17th of this month.  I wanted to comment on your postings if I may.  My responses may be un-related.  I apologize.  I hope you may be able to help.

I had a very hard time the first couple days with the protein shakes.  They were too thick, they felt like they were "chalk" and weighed on me.  I could eat small pieces of a crab cake that was very moist.  I also could eat Chilli.  I cannot for some reason consume more then 2-3 table spoons of even tuna.

Part of me is concerned that I'm going lose nutrients.  My Aunt had the procedure several years ago.  She suggested Mashed Potatoes which I'm able to consume.  Maybe a half a cup of them.  I also had Crab Bisque soup today.  I know it's ri*****ream.  But, I had to get something.

My stomach has been upset and I have been vomitting even with small amounts of very soft food.  I was told it's because the stomach i still healing.  This eventually diminishes?  I should in about a month be able to tolerate more "real food".  I'm not trying to be a glutton but what I'm eating I have no appetite for?

Chris

How is it that you are less than a month out from surgery and you are already eating such heavy foods?
