Ok friends, here goes! I know this is going to sound ultra weird, but when and/or if can one eat pickles and sunflower seeds? I love these 2 things!!  I mean, I'm not craving sweets or anything like that, in fact, I feel like today was a good day, but my mouth does water at the thought of a sour pickle!!

For me . . . I ate what I wanted, small bits and chewed really well.
I have never had a problem.  I don't believe there would be harm,
but I am not a doc ...  Good Luck!  For me . . .  it's all in my head!  LOL!

Thanks for the info!! I soooo wanted to hear that! LOL
I know I need to be careful, but even the juice would be a lil' satisfying. I mean, that's the only thing I'm craving...and no,I'm not pregnant!! Hahaha!! I've always loved pickles. Maybe not the solid food, but maybe just a spoonful of juice...And the minute I'm dumping I'll have my answer!! JK

Yes, indeed, the dump would be the answer!  I only made myself a little sick twice,
one time by eating too fast and not chewing and the other time was a piece of fried
greasy chicken.  Although I didn't eat the good part there was still grease in the
chicken. . . so I've stayed away from the real fried foods since.  And, no I didn't
think you were pregnant -- as I am 64 today and don't think in those terms anymore!
HA!

I had the biggest pickle craving too-- it was all I wanted. I drank the juice and then would suck on the pickles but not actually eat them

I am 8 weeks out and interesting to me, the only  think I have craved has been pickles.  It's the vinegar I want to the point that I would be willing to almost drink vinegar!  But I didn't try them until my doc's diet recommendations allowed it.  For my program, the first post-op week was full liquids.  The second post-op week was pureed foods, and the third post-op week opened up the menu to anything I could tolerate, keeping in mind: protein first, and it would be wise to go for moist proteins and stay away from white carbs.

I prefer the bread and butter pickles and I buy the No Sugar Added variety.  I have tolerated them very well and they are the most satisfying thing I have put in my mouth since surgery.  Often, for a meal, I get 2 slices of turkey sandwich meat (very moist) and wrap them around a Bread and Butter Pickle spear.  It's heaven, and one of the things I tolerate best.

But bottom line, I would not eat them until my program said I could have them.  Good luck!
p.s: If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got...

Thank you all for your suggestions! I'm going to ask my doc at my next appt this Thurs. I hope he will clear me to at least nibble on one!! LOL! It has been hell just thinking of the pickles/vinegar! I've had a sip of the juice. Today I found a site for pickle popsicles.  I know I sound desperate, but this website was pretty interesting!!

LOL its great to know I'm not alone with the pickle cravings! I take the spears and peel the skin off. I eat like 2 or 3 tiny tiny bites and seem to be satisfied with it.
