I am in my 3rd week post op and yesterdayI have beans, chili and hot sauce, (1/4 cup)and today...I had one RIB!    WITH LOTS OF SAUCE!

I am worried that I ruined my pouch.  I am promising myself to stop, but I have been craving spicy foods for so long!

Pumpkin, you can seriously damage your insides with food your body is not ready for. Some of us have had cravings (yours' truly included) and have got through them by putting a bite of something in our mouth, sucking the juice, and spitting the solid out. This is not a permanent solution, and if it's carried too far it can be an eating disorder behavior, but if you are doing potentially self-destructive eating, you need to slow down and think about the consequences.

You can wreck your pouch and your stoma, causing gastric juices to leak out and damage your other intestines and organs. You do not want that. It is very painful and happened to a girlfriend of mine. She had to have repeat surgery to fix the damage. If you absolutely have to have a food, chew it until it is practically liquid in your mouth before swallowing it. Don't sabotage the potential success of your surgery by enlarging or damaging your stomach pouch so early in the game!

Hope this helps. I know you can do it!
