Can you just drink too much???

I'm 5 days post op and my doc wants me on the usual full liquid diet. I've done pretty good. In fact I haven't been hungry. But today I had some cream of whea****er, water, water, some cream of chicken soup for lunch, a sugar free pudding that is looking at me...more water, water, water...Iknow I need the protein and water, but I'm disgustingly full! Can you just drink too much? And will it hurt your pouch? Some had said liquid doesn't hurt the pouch. But I don't even feel nauseated. Please advise!!!

Thanks!

From what I've read liquid goes straight to your lower intestines so you aren't going to feel much restriction with it unless you drink fast or right after eating. I think as long as you are able to drink and there's no pain you're okay. Water won't hurt your pouch. It sounds like you are recovering very well!

It's been a long time since I had my RNY, but my liquid diet was just that.  Check your post op diet from your surgeon's office.  In my case, cream of wheat and cream of chicken suop were not part of the liquid diet.  They didn't come until the soft food diet.  If you are full, stop eating.  You can always add another small meal a couple hours later.  Remember to sip your liquids now.  I also wouldn't be worried about getting in too much fluid.  Fluid won't damage the pouch.  Can you drink too much?  the answer is yes, but you'd have to be having several gallons of liquid.
