i will be three years post op on aug 8th. I went from 312 to 175 pounds. I looked great and most of all felt great. I met a new man and got married. WHich I thought i would never do and really didnt care if i did. Now i cant believe that i lived without him. we had a baby together 16months ago and I gained 55lbs during the pregnancy. I was stressed about it but just kept telling myself that it was for the baby.

Now 16months after her birth, I am 23lbs away from being at my goal weight again. I have tried exercise and watching what i eat. I admit my pouch is stretched out and i can eat  a lot more than i should. Still not nearly as much as i used too.

What is the 5 day puch test?

Does anyone get the lap band after having a bypass?

anyone has suggesstions?

Stressed out Sara

I am thinking there is a web page for 5daypouch.  maybe search google.
Anyway it is a liquid fast for a couple of days and then back on protein for a while.

Congratulations on the new baby.   Sounds like your life has really changed since your surgery.

I don't know about the lapband after bypass.   I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy.  It has been wonderful.  I guess it can stretch out too, but I have been very pleased so far.

You have lost some of the baby weight and are heading in the right direction.

Check out the pouch test.  I'm thinking about doing it too.

The five day pouch test is when you have nothing but liquids for five days. Protein shakes, Jello, SF drinks,SF Popsicles and water. Nothing solid for five days it's suppose to shrink your pouch. Just remember try and get in at least 60 grams of protein per day.

I just was checking out the 5 day pouch test myself as I've gained back about 20 pounds since Christmas. I need to nip this in the bud fast as I have seen a few gain most of their weight back. I'm not going to go back "there" again! After all I went through having this surgery I refuse to gain it all back. Anyway...the 5 day pouch test is only 2 days of liquids including all the protein shakes you can drink. Then they work soft solid protein in on the 3rd day like canned fish and frozen fish. Day 4 and 5 your eating chicken and turkey. Just no liquids 30 minutes before, during and after your meals and you have 15 min's for each meal. I'm going to do it starting Sunday. I will get to the store and purchase the shakes and all. I have a birthday party for my mom at an all-u-can-eat buffet Fri and know that it'd be hard to not eat there hence the Sunay start. If you do it good luck! I never heard of the lap band after bypass.

Don't stress, I know it is harder said than done.  I know this is a super old post but I just happened to venture over to this board today.

I had my surgery August 8, 2005, got divorced in 2006, had a baby October 1, 2008 and got married April 11, 2009.  So, we are pretty similar.  I was 156 at my 6 week pregnancy appt and that was even up from my all time low of 145lbs, which was a bit too skinny for me.  I was happy at 150.  I was 197 when I delivered my daughter and got back down to 163lbs, and yesterday I was 170.  I was sick to my stomach when I stepped on the scale.  I have been putting off doing the5 day pouch test for months now and decided I have to stop putting it off. Today is day 1 for me and so far so good.  I am hoping to get back down to 155lbs and told myself I could go shopping if I did, so I am determined!!!

Good luck and if you need any encouragement or info on the pouch diet just let me know.

I've tried the test and really liked it. For one, it helps you beat the carb monster. Again. The author believes that even those who never had dumping, like me, are really in low level dumping. I agree. After the test, I had something carb and had dumping.

The thing is we have to change our minds about food and eating and maintaining ourselves. The test is about gaining control and learning more about our little pouch. She has an awesome website, too.

I'm struggling everyday. But it's part of the journey, I think
