I am 2 weeks post op and just on semi solid food. I am doing OK so far but I have a question....Am I ever going to be able to eat a sandwich again? Or a salad?

It's never too late to be what you might have been...

Probably if you chew chew chew.  I chew each small bite 25 times and don't have any problem.  Me personally- I don't eat sandwiches bc of the bread.  I found the bread to be too addictive for me.  I start fantasizing about when and what I could eat with that bread, lol.  Salads I can eat no problem.  I usually leave out the lettuce and focus on the "good stuff".

I also recommend the Beck's Diet book for mental motivation.

I'm five years out and can easily house a sandwich - in fact, I wish that I couldn't.  But you will be able to eat all of that again - concentrate on learning portion control and good habits (lots of people find bread to just be too tempting).

I myself have no problems eating sandwiches, it just takes me and hour or 2 to do it!  I do have problems with vegetables though.  I love salads and I can only have about 1/4 cup because it just gives me gas and makes me feel really bloated.  For myself, it doesn't matter how much I chew, that's just the way it is for me.  Fruits also have the same effect on me.  But fear not!  You might be able to handle fruits and veggies just fine.  Everyone's body is different.  I can tell you this too from my own situation, that over time, what you can eat will likely also change.  I had my GBS 10 years ago, and there are things that I could eat really well right after my surgery that I have a harder time tolerating now.  So, smile!  And good luck on your new weightloss journey!  :D

Unfortunately, I have discovered that I can eat whatever I want.  pizza, sandwiches etc. I wish I hadn't. I have m first fill on Thursday. I am hungry all of the time. My stomach  makes really loud noises. I wasn't prepared for the hunger. However, I have read that it is common and expected. It is some what depressing. I really thought that i would lose weight faster than this

I know what you mean! I never feel satisfied but I am afraid to eat. I don't want to throw up!
I don't have my first fill until7/16. Can you please let me know if your first fill changes things for you?

I know exactly what you mean. I'm3 months post op and am down 37 #.
I look on these websites and really did a lot of damage to my spirit by comparing myself to others during the first few weeks.
I've had two fills now and am feeling a little more restricted. It's a daily struggle to stay on plan.
Initially, I was afraid to eat anything; now, I've not found anything I'm unable to tolerate (including sandwiches and salad). It's made me have to deal with the behavioral aspects differently.

I'd really recommend Beck's Diet Solution. It's great for addressing the head hunger and those bad habits that got us here in the first place.

Good luck on your weight loss journey & carve your own path - don't copy someone else's! : )

I'm 5 months out and I still can't do bread or raw vegetables, but it's probably different for everyone.
