I had a lap band surgery last saturday...
now the pain is almost gone i find my self constantly thinking of food.
whn i decided to have the surgery, i scheduled it very quickly, so i promised my self i will have some of my favorite things before i have it but i didn't. there was no time.
now i keep on thinking about food, what i wouldn't give for a piece of bread.
i'm still on a fluids diet, and since the surgery i have lost almost 10 pounds.
I have to go see my doctor tomorrow, he will tighten the ring... i hope it will stop the craving.
this is depressing,
i need to lose at least 60 pounds now and i don't know how long it will take,
i'm so tired, i have been dieting for years.. i wish i can reach the point when its over...
if anyone knows how long it takes to lose wight like that, please tell me..

I'm not too sure how long it takes to lose the weight with a lap band (I had gastric bypass) but I lost 60 lbs. in about 3 months.  That is not typical of weight loss either so it might take you a bit more time.  But don't fret.  The weight will come off.  As for the cravings, after I had my surgery, I was just like you and it was horrid!!  Can you eat any kind of solid food yet?  As your doctor if you can eat saltine crackers.  I found that to curb my cravings during that time, I would eat some saltines, slowly, letting melt in my mouth before I swallowed them.  I gave me the sensation of eating something solid but it would melt so it wouldn't upset my stomach from eating them.  And I found that once I could finally start eating solid food for good, my cravings went completely away.  I think it was more like brain was going through it's on withdrawl from all the food overload before the surgery.  Trust me, I know it doesn't feel like it now, but it does get better.  And people here are there to help keep you on the path to making this work for youself.  Good luck!!

I can relate to what you are feeling. What you are experiencing is head hunger. It's the mental part that goes with having the surgery. I went through a "pissed at the world stage" where I was mad at the fact that everybody else could eat normally and I could not. It does ease up, but while you're in it, it's awful!! I didn't have lap band, I had RNY, but I would assume the head hunger goes with all WLS.

Good luck to you,
Jennifer

I don't think I have head hunger, since I'm so hungry it wakes me up in the middle of the night.  I'm 9 months out, hungry ALL THE TIME and haven't lost weight in 3 months.  I had RNY and I'm very frustrated, so say the least.

I have head hunger and real hunger and sometimes I can distinguesh between them but it doesnt mean I win!  I am one year out and I was hungry 5 days out!!!  I stopped losing weight
after 6 months  and I think if I didn't excersise as much as I do ( 2 hours 5days a week) I would be  gaining. I have 27 more lbs to goal weight and I struggle every day!! I tell my self I am not
going to snack and I give in probally 99% of the time.  I was seeing a phyc. but I can't afford the
co payments  ( my husbands not working) and I saw her for a month and 1/2 and it didn't help
I wish I could afford to go to another phyc. to find out why I have this addiction to food!!  why
i can't eat to live instead of live to eat.!!  I have read every book (except becks) I go to support
group every monday and I come to OH as much as possible, it helps but it is not a "cure"
I want a cure!! Thanks for listening (or reading lol)

Someone suggested I try Overeaters Anonymous, but they don't have meetings at a place and time I can get to.  Meanwhile I'm supposed to drink more, exercise more and try to double my protein intake!
