Help!!! I am now 4 days post op and cannot find a protein drink, shake anything I can get down without throwing up. I have tried everything unflavored, flavored mixed in with stuff I just dont know what to do. If only they made protein injections. Someone help me please I know how important protein is to me.

I'm almost 6 weeks out and I'm having problems with finding something tolerable...no throwing up, but there are a lot of ones that I can't stand.  The best one I've had is unjury in the chicken flavored.  it tastes like cream of chicken.  The texture is not bad at all.

Lately, I've been having the mint cocoa protein every morning from www.focus28wellness.com.  I actually like that one a lot, too.

Good luck.  :-)  Keep trying and you'll find something you like.

Syntrax Nectar saved me.  Chocolate truffle is my favorite.

HI I'm coming up 11 days POST OP and I too am struggling with the protein.
I had one whole day that I threw up everything, and on top of that had very bad direaha.
I called the doctor as I was concerned that i'd get dehydrated quickly and I also have problems keeping my vitamins down as well.... he put me back to basics of beef broth, tea, gator ade, and 3 gravol a day with each meal (of vitamins mostly) so I could get through this phase, he said somepeople become lactose intolerant and some people have a harder time adjusting.

I have to tell you I followed his advise and I feel SO much better. Now, I just have to work at getting in my protein. I found drinking protein shakes give me dumping almost right away. So, it's been very hard to find something that will sit properly.

I am suppose to be on blenderized foods, but it's hard to think up recipes which really don't appeal to you that you know you have to eat and to find a variety. If anyone has any tips of what worked for them that would be GREAT.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you too.

One thing my NUT. says is drink your milk, or blenderize cottage cheese that will give you protein. For me that is hard as it has started to make me sick, that's why I think I've become lactose intolerant.

take care. Laurie

hey !

that sucks that is happening to you! i remember i cried after a week of the same thing happeneing. i dreaded every time i had to make my shake!

just keep on trying differant ones, order samples online. i DO NOT suggest buying big tubs. i have spent over 100 bucks trying differant things and am now stuck with so much,!

try to get unjury samples of chicken soup like somebody else suggested. its like instant and very yummy! it doesnt have that whey protein after taste (which i hate!!!!!)

my other fav was syntrax nectar iced tea. i now do not have any tolerance for whey protein. but i used it for about a month. (now if i even smell whey i get really sick)

now i use click espresso drink protein. its really yummy if you love coffee!! i also try to eat 1-2 protein bars a day and of course eating my protein. but for you at your stage i would just suggest trying differant ones.

vitamin shoppe has the nectar & also im not sure if you know but both vitamin shoppe and gnc both have deals if you dont like it to bring it back and you can exchange it for a new one!

good luck and keep on asking questions if you need help!
