I have trouble fitting in breakfast and was looking for maybe some protein bars that might help...any suggestions? Also, why does everything have to be so damn expensive...I was looking at one web site where the protein bars are $3 each!!!  And on that note...why is bad food so much cheaper than the stuff we are supposed to eat?

The best protein bars I found are Pure Protein bars.  They have 20g of protein and between 190-210 cals per bar.  I eat these four days a week for breakfast because I get up at 3am to go to work.  I work in a very fast pace environment and it would be 10am before I slowed down enough to consume any other food.  That would be to late to get my metabolism going so pure protein bars are a staple in my diet.  At Walmart you can get a box of 5 or 6 for $6.00.

Food the big conspiracy.  If the bad for you food was more expensive you wouldn't buy as much and then the diet industry would not have enough fat people to accommodate their supply of needless diet paraphernalia.   If healthy food were cheaper we would all eat more be healthier and then the diet industry and medical industry would plummet.  99 cents for a 60 cookies VS 99 cents for an apple and 1/2.  That's 30 snacks vs 3.  Why is America fat???

Take care-Char

The problem Ive seen in Protein bars, is you usually don't see any with low carbs, is there actually one with High protein/low carb?  I thought about buying for replacemeant meals, but couldn't find one low and didn't know what might be a good amount when choosing.

I like those Wal-mart protein bars for 6 bucks a box.  I take them when I travel and eat as a supplement meal.

I second the Pure Protein bars comment.  They tend to be relatively cheap (buy 'em in the six pack from Target) and delicious.  In addition, sometimes Trader Joe's/ other health food or stores such as Ralph's will have sales on protein bars and you can get some brands (Cliff, Luna, etc.) for relatively cheap (like a dollar).

I like the pure protein bars also but the surg coordinator and the nutritionist said they weren't good for you because the carbs were so high ! I do the protein drink in the morning that way I know I'm getting some protein in anyway. I was told to go by the 10-10-10 rule ( still figuring that out) 10 sugar - 10 carbs and 10 fat ( or less)   I would love to find something easy and inexpensive...

I also swear by the South Beach meal bars.  I usually have one for breakfast since I can eat it at my desk at work.
