Need to gain some weight back

Hi,
Well I never thought I would be asking this, but I have gone way under my goal weight and am having a hard time gaining some back. I talked to me nut and they recommend more meals a day. So I tried that, but only gained a pound so far. I am getting tired of people commenting on how skinny I look and if I am sick. Or you have to stop losing weight. I am trying!!  I was exercising everyday for at least 1hr to 1 1/2 so I have cut down to 3 times a week. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Cindy

dear cindy,

i know how it feels when people tell you to stop losing weight.  it is frustrating for sure.  i think that if you add in an extra meal and cut back on exercise that will help you to stop losing.  how much do they want you to gain back?  you can try adding in some denser calorie foods like nuts too.  best of luck, feel good, stay healthy.

Thanks for the advice. I have added more meals and more calories, but still am not gaining. I think I am going to call my nut and see what they say.

Here is my comical take on this, I hope this isn't a bad thing cause I really feel for your problem.  My brother-in-law has Crones disease and had some intestines removed years ago.  he is underweight and struggles badly with keeping his weight up.  We always joke that he needs some of my weight and I have plenty to give him.

His doctor put him on this shake that seemed to help a lot, while he didn't 'fatten' up much he stopped losing and did put on about 10 lbs.  He is at the bottom/middle of his goal weight now.

The shake consisted of 2 cups of whole milk, protein powder that is mainly for weight gain (he got it at GNC at the mall) and a few scoops of whole mil**** cream.  I would positively talk to your nutritionist and see what the expert has to say.

I am not sure how much you have to put back on but a shake a day and he put on 5-6 lbs after a few weeks. I would say not to stop exercising just alter how you exercise. If you do a high impact exercise maybe just walk or cycle or another low impact exercise instead.  that way you are still getting the health benefits just not the hard core fat burning benefits.  I would think low impact would help and be Okay.

Again, positively talk to your nutritionist or dietitian, don't solely take advice on here.  I usually do some research and then use that research to ask questions when I call/talk to my 'people'.

Thanks Jamie,
I have been doing the protein shakes minus the ice cream. I have only had ice cream once and it kind of upset my stomach. I am doing better I have put on a couple of pounds. I quit doing the high impact workouts and mainly do yoga, biking and a lot of weights to add muscle weight. I like the weight that I am at know but I am tired of what people say. I would like to fill out my face more because that's what people comment on most.
