Diarrhea Problems *gross*

I'm not sure this is the right forum for this...so I'm sorry if this topic doesnt belong in here.

For the last week, I've been having very soft stools. Its gross...kinda the consistancy of pudding. Sorry if that grosses anyone out, but thats the closest I can explain it.

I've also had a problem with eating meats since surgery. I can eat Spam if I put it in the food processor and whiz it up and mix it with a little Miracle Whip Lite....but I tried eating some pork tenderloin the other night...and from 7pm til about 1:30 am I kept throwing up and feeling like crap. Meat is the ONLY thing that I've had that I have problems with. Do I need to keep putting any meat I want in the food processor??

So lately I've been living on Spam, tomato juice, string cheese and decaf coffee.

I have a huge problem with this and I ended up severely dehydrated because even water went right through me.  I ended up being prescribed codeine sulfate.

The codeine sulfate works great but I asked my surgeon how long I had to take it because if I skip a dose to check and see if I am better it happens again.  He said once my weight leveled off the intestinal issues should go away after 2-6 months.

I sure hope they do.

If you have any questions give me a holler, I am good with talking about absolutely anything.

Good Luck,

-Jaime

It's SLOWLY getting better, but still really annoying. And the worst part is I'm in a wheelchair..so most of the time I cant make it to the bathroom in time...then I get the lovely job of cleaning....I'll be happy in a couple months LOL.

But I know I'm not getting dehydrated, because I drink about a pot of decaf coffee every day. So that's at least 96 ounces. I just need to watch the creamer......and of course, I use Splenda.

Dude.

Protein shakes? Cottage cheese? Beans? Yogurt? Tuna salad? These don't work for you?

You must, must, must nourish yourself.

Are you going to eat blenderized Spam and mayo for the rest of your life? Drink decaf?

C'mon. Your bum seems to be telling you something.

It's not sissy to learn to eat well now. You simply must.

You have a new baby on your hands (your new tummy.) Treat it like your own infant, love it, nouri**** with healthful foods that it can handle, and soon you'll be healthier than you ever thought possible.

Cottage cheese I can eat, havent tried protien shakes yet, yogurt is good, beans...eh....tuna salad doesnt work yet. Ever since surgery, alot of meat that I eat makes me throw up. Spam isnt going to be the only thing I eat for the rest of my life, but it does the trick right now.

Plain water gets old, real quick...so the decaf coffee helps me get past that. I've tried sugar free Tang and sugar free Kool-aid, but those dont keep my interest very long.

I've found that I can eat guacamole, tomatoes, shrimp, scallops....so its not JUST Spam in my diet. But scallops and shrimp are expensive, I cant eat that as much as I'd like to. I'm slowly trying to find ways to add meat back in, and new ways of cooking or preparing it so I can eat it.

Be careful with the Miracle Whip Lite, I bought some before I realized there was SUGAR as the third or fourth ingredient. It may be causing you to dump if you are very sensitive. I've been blending my meats with broth and fish with a cottage chees and protein milk. Both taste very good. Hope you are feeling better.

I have alot of problems with this, I find sugar, milk  and high fat foods set this off.  Try to stay under 6 gms on the sugar and try lactaid or soy milk.  See if any of this helps

I was reading the post and just wanted to chime in one thing.  Cost- I hear alot of people complain about the cost of protein/meat/shakes/vitamins and I used to be one of those people.  But here's the deal -prior to surgery I didn't think twice about spending money on dining out food or grabbing snacks at the gas station.  I hit fast food joints once or twice a day.  I'd eat out as I felt like it or the cravings drove me, lol.  So with that said the higher cost of quality food is equal or less than I what I was spending before on junk and fast food.  So take the time to figure up how much you were honestly spending on food prior to surgery and you should find it to be more or equal to your current cost to buy quality food and vitamins.  Happy losing!
