I have this issue: EVERY time I eat any milk product, I bloat out and get very uncomfotrable, plus I can empty out any room of people......very embarrassing.  My Doc tells me to use the OTC medications for lactose intolerance and gasX......well, it didn't work for me.  Anyone have any suggestions or anyone else having the same problem??  I am desperate!!

Have you tried the lactose free products.  These are made with soy.

Matter of fact I have and the milk is too sweet and still comes up on me.  But thank you so much for your quick response.

Thanks so much for saying that, every little bit helps.  Sometimes I forget where I can from, all I know is that sometimes I still see myself as fat, loose skin and all.  But I do feel better and I am always so thankful to the doctor and insurance who made it all happen for me.  I know I had to do the work, but they opened the door.

The lactose is getting better and I am getting such wonderful ideas from the people responding to my question, I am so thankful.  I think I have found that I can not take any pills at all and have them work unless they are chewable or I just chew them, sorta gross, but maybe with the way my stomach works now it just has to be.

You can get soy milk that is unsweetend ie non vanilla, but I find rice milk is the best alternative. The OTC's do not work for me either.

After my surgery almost 6 years ago, my stomach decided that it didn't want milk too. I didn't bloat so much as I just got sick.

I quit drinking milk and found that I could use Carb Countdown milk, I think its now called Calorie Countdown. Also, I have found that Almond milk is a very tasty alternative.

Hope that you find something that you can tolerate.

Thank you so much, I think I will try this.  I hate the fact that I love milk products sooo much and can't even have a string cheese.

You have become lactose intolerant post-op.   This is very common.   Put away the milk for now.   Try it again in a month or two, you might have to experiment between 2% and fat free.  For me, I settled on 1%, fat free made me throw up, 2% made me blow up; took 4 mos. before I could tolerate a little glass.   Use cottage cheese or yogurt instead to get your calcium and/or use calcium citrate.   As for the gas, Devrom is the recommended cure for severe flatulence and gas.   Maalox for mediocre suffering (make sure you get the sugar free mint I think it is).

Thank you so so much for the extras.  I will get some and the idea of trying differnt fat levels is great also.  Thanks again.
