Houston Area Peeps?
Hi Amanda,
The Holidays are the hardest I agree. With me, you get started on wanting to eat right and then the Holiday comes up and you eat because it taste so good. I really wish i would have had my surgery closer to Thanksgiving because I watched what i ate like a hawk and didn't cheat. However, Thanksgiving comes with Pumpkin Pie and you can't forget that(or you can but I didn't).
You are going through the hardest stage right now on top of the Holidays. I was so strong in making sure everything had plenty of Protein that I would spend 2 hours at the store shoping for myself. It was tough but well worth it in the end. I cried, but I smiled way more when I could do certain things. One thing that was a wow for me and i enjoyed the hell out of was being able to slide between the grocery store and the shopping carts and not even tough the thing. Now that was pretty cool.
Keep me posted on how you are doing.

Well, doing okay I guess. Yesterday I had a bad experience. I have been feeling like everything is taking way too long to go down and I am not getting in even enough water due to a tight feeling that I was having. Well I thought since I am only 6 weeks out that this was a normal feeling. Well I tried some mushed up ground turkey yesterday at the suggestion of a friend and man did I regret that as she said that more protien would probably make me feel better and I am so tired of protien drinks that I wanted to try an ounce of something new, well didn't even get in a solid ounce before I wound up in the emergency room having to do another uper GI and they found that I have a stricture.
I have called Dr. Davis and I am waiting for instructions on what they are going to want me to do. Something was mentioned about an endoscopy or something like that to see what was going on. I was just hoping that I was eating too fast or drinking too fast and this would cure itself but it looks like if that is not the case.

Yep a stricture is a good sign of the tight feeling. Right now, concentrate on staying hydrated. The endoscope is not bad and what they will do is cut the stricture out. It's like a string that that didn't desolve on it's own. After that you won't feel any tightness.

I have the endoscopy thing scheduled for 6:00 am tomorrow morning, man they didn't waste any time scheduling that now did they. I am a little nervous about the procedure and wanting to find out as much information as I can. Will this hurt? Will I be able to go back to normal on my diet or will I start all over again with the liquid stage till I heal again? Any insight would be appreciated.
No pain at all. The worst part is waiting. The procedure is less then 15 minutes. You will be eating normal immediately. They will probably tell you some diet restrictions for the rest of the day but nothing out of the ordinary. You will do fine. I have had 3 of them the worst part for me is being woke up too soon.
