Not losing after RNY

I'll be 3 weeks out tomorrow and have really not lost any weight since I've moved to soft foods and onwards.  Has anyone else experienced this problem so soon in the game.  I'm trying to get my protein in and estimate between 60 - 80g per day (depending on how busy I am).  I have noticed that over the last few days I starting feeling the pain of either overeating or eating too quickly (I think it's the second) so I'm really focusing on that issue.  But the weight thing is beginning to bother me.

Dear Frazzled,
First.....take a deep breath!! You WILL lose the weight! No worries!! Honest!! You couldn't do anything wrong at this point in the game, if you wanted to!!! You're gonna lose, lose ,lose, without any problems for at least the first 6 to 9 months, if not for a full eighteen months!
What is happening is this- You've just had MAJOR surgery! Your body has been through the wringer and it's resting. Taking a small break. This is called a "pause". (if this goes on for several months, then it might be a "plateau", but this happening at 3 weeks out is highly unlikely) Let your body rest!! It needs it.
Keep doing what your doc told you to do. Water, protein , walking. Your weight loss will kick in again. I promise! I had many "pauses" and a few "plateau's" all the way down to goal, and I'm sure you won't be any different, cause we all do it. It's just part of the crazy ride, you signed up for! I know it's frustrating and worrisome, but just keep on, keeping on and it will all work out! You'll start dropping again, as soon as your body has "rested" enough.
Keep coming on here and ask questions, we're all here for you.....Have a great afternoon!

Thank you very much for your encouraging words.  I guess it's human nature to expect things to happen right away.  I'm beginning to realize more each day that this is a process and I have to go with the flow.  I'm focusing on eating right and taking in enough protein etc.  But I can't wait to be excited about the weight loss again though.

I am/was having similar stops and starts, but I was revised 6/30/08 so weight loss is slower for me.  I am having success following these rules:

Get in at least 64 oz of water
No Caffeine
Protein first, then veggies if you have room, then fruit -- no bread this soon
TAKE IN PROTEIN SHAKES FOR MORNING SNACK AND AFTERNOON SNACK -- otherwise weight loss will stall and you will lose muscle mass
try to get in exercise, at least 30 minutes cardio per day
add in resistance training to help maintain muscle mass

Good luck

Michele
