I am so glad I came to this board this morning I realize I am NOT alone. I stopped losing weight over a year ago and realize why. I snack on cashews and dried fruit all day and skip meals or eat very little. It seems the cashews and dried fruit never upset my stomach so I enjoyed eating them. Its got to stop so this morning I am back to basics.Yesterday I screamed at myself for being so stupid and thats over now no more self beatings. I will SUCCEED!!

Hi Malinda, I understand what your going through. I myself am in the same boat. I am 17 months post-op and was only 15lbs shy of my goal when I regained it. Now I am stuck and I'm depressed over it as well. I have been eating right except for the ritz crackers since it helps with the naseau but I can't seem to get over my hump. I have slowed down in exercising due to therapy on my back because of the pain, but I do what I can. I'm afraid to gain anymore and now I'm thinking of going back on the liquid diet like in the begining. I've been advised from other WLS patients that it will help to jump start the weight loss again. So, I am gonna do it!!!! I DO NOT want to regain anymore weight. Though I am reminded that I should be happy with the 85lbs I've lost so far, which I am but I wanted to be at goal like so many others that I have read in the blogs. I am told that my height help hides my size even more but I myslef don't like my clothes feeling a bit snug. I am determined to beat this and achieve what I planned prior to WLS surgery. So best of luck to you in achieving your wieght loss goal. Know that as I will be going through the struggle of getting out of my plateau, I will be thinking of you and sending you all my prayers and hopes for the encouragement for you to reach your goal as well. Best of luck too you and lets both get back on track! Diana

Seeing as I'm only 6 months out, and I'm still losing, I'm not sure if what I have to say will help you at all, but I'll try. From the get-go, the rule from my surgeon was to eat ONLY three times a day. Just three good meals. That way, you don't snack all day and gain the weight back. It's hard to get used to at first, but if you have protein drinks, jello, or italian ice as snacks, instead of nuts, than it'll help a lot. Hope this helped!

i' m on a 20 months post op....lost about 125 lbs from 300 lbs....i gained 10 lbs in the last 3 months...so now i sit on 185 lb average....some people tell me is cuz i gained muscle.probaly did.....however i do munch on power bars and granola bars a lot.... but every day i work out 2 to 3 hrs a day....i got involved in cyclism...so i do average of 35-50 miles a day..plus some coling time.....i was just refered to get the abdoplastic surgery....my doc told me yesterday that a good 10 lbs of underneath fat and skin will come out the tummy area.......... but what if i gain weight?....so i;m sitting on that for a while.... i try to stay moving and water intake to avoid a climb.........the only thing that comes to my mind is watch what u eat........good luck.

Im three years out, almost, and have gained 13 pounds and went into a panic! My surgeon said to eat 6 small protein meals a day,,so thats what Im going to do. That will jump start my metabolism and keep me satisfied,,and I re read the Pouch Rules for Dummies too,,that helped remind me of what I should be doing. The thing that messed me up was I really got into eating the easy foods,,like cottage cheese and yogurt and refried beans,,cause they dont make me sick and I can tolerate em well. But they are the "slider " foods, in that they slide right through the pouch and dont keep ya satisfied. I too, wasnt eating meals,,but snacky things,,like cashews or a spoonful of peanut butter. So, tomorrow its dense protein all day,,,and back to the protein shakes,,and water water water! I had gotten away from that, and being low on water will slow your metabolism too. At least it wasnt a 30 pound gain and Im catching it in time,,I hope! Hang in there ,,,we can do this! We cant change yesterday,,but we can sure change tomorrow!! Be blessed! Betsy

Hi,
I am 3 years post-op and gained 30lbs back!! January 1st I started the South Beach Diet and have lost 6 pounds in six days! It is the perfect eating lifestyle for someone post -gastric bypass. It is high in protein and fiber, and not "no carb", but "good carb". I highly recommend getting the book and giving it a try....especially, if you have low blood sugar problems like I do.

Blesssings,
Tess
