Hi all I here to say that as of 11 months out I still eat and drink at the same time. Oh my God no she ant, I know that your mouth is opened going I cant belive her. I would like to know one thig ? Am I messing up my pouch by doing this? it seems to make me eat a lot less so that is why I do it and just for the record I am to dang gone lazy to go back down those 16 steps of mine in 30min. to get a drink . And there is no way I can have it up here with me and not drink a sip. So come on board sisters and brothers give it to me stright or confess up.

Hi, Theresa! I am not surprised because I've talked to many RNY patients who say that they drink with 1 meal per day... as a treat. I don't do this personally so I can't say if it makes any difference in how your pouch reacts. When people add sugar and fried foods back into their meals, I have the dropped mouth reaction. I hate feeling sick so that's my motivation to keep my meals simple. Talk to you later. Ro

I am surprised that it does not make you sick. A lot of patients it does. The other thing is that it can stretch your pouch, which is a bad thing. 10 months out and I have yet to even try this for the fear of stretching my pouch. No, my mouth did not drop but if you can try to avoid doing it that would probably be a good idea. Anything that keeps your pouch at the correct size and helps you maintain your weight loss is worth the sacrafice. Good luck!! ~ Terisa

I have done it,,and the reason I stopped is, it washes the food right through the pouch to the intestine,,where the calries are absorbed but you get hungry sooner,,making ya want to eat again, which is what was happening to me. My doc said it wont stretch the pouch much, but it is the number one reason peole tend to regain their weight,,because it washes away satiety by emtying the pouch. That was enough for me!! Hi, sorry I didn't see this until now. I agree with what Betsy said...the liquid will wash the food out of your pouch too quickly and not ruin your pouch but definitely ruin your food plan and cause regain. You can go way back in my profile and read what I wrote about that being a major part of my regain from my first wls. I ONLY drink with about one or two meals a month and that is ONLY about 4 oz. coffee with a really yummy weekend breakfast. Eating and drinking is just a huge no-no for me now. However...there are just some food experiences that are worth the subsequent hunger like a few weekend morning breakfasts. It is my choice and I know that if I do indulge it is going to make me hungry too soon and I just have to suffer till it is time for my next little mini meal. Have you tried water loading? I find that if I practice it then I don't even want liquid with a meal and have no trouble having the willpower to keep not-drinking with a meal. Molly
