Help...Anyone else do this?
I am approaching my three anni on my surgery. I started out @ 367 and got down to 232 (which for me is slim..I am 6'3 and large framed..my dr wanted me to get to 225 and no lower) Christmas 06 I gorged on the holiday treats and let myself gain 20lbs..(260lbs) Realized my clothes were getting tight and regained control. (Back down to mid 240's) Which is were I have held all year. But I just changed jobs to a department that loves to eat. (Ironically they are all skinny) I love patterns and hate change...and the change in jobs, plus my wife being laid off has really triggered me to eat again, all the wrong foods, no matter how hard I try, to get back in the routine I was in that caused me to loose 20lbs, I just fail. It is driving me nuts. I know I am an emotional eater, I know the change in jobs, buildings, and my wifes situation has triggered some inner-trigger for me to eat like crazy.
I don't have time to get to a shrink for I work to jobs now 80+hours a week. I feel horrible for doing this to myself...I am not sure how much if any I have gained, but i know my body won't fight the junk forever and soon will start putting the pounds on.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated....I am at my wits end.

Hi, JS! Welcome! Well, you've really had a lot to deal with over the past 3 years. So glad that you only gained a minimal amount with all of the stressors. It could have been worse. I am post-op 10 months, but prior to surgery my weight increased as tensions increased in my life. I was so proud to lose 90 lbs in 2003, but then I regained 40 of that weight and felt like a failure. I did manage to reduce another 20 lbs, but it took so long that my co-morbidities threatened my health. It took 1 more year to get the courage for WLS.
Since you have the knowledge about how to lose using the WLS basics that's a plus. By reaching out here, you've shown that you are ready to jump start your health plan.
Congrats on deciding to fight the food urges!

So it sounds like you just need a kick start. You have done well thus far and like many patients we have moments of stress of weakness. You can get back on track. Please try the 5 day pouch test. Think of it as resetting your pouch to post surgical status. It may not be quite a small, but much closer than you may be now. Please give this a try and keep us posted as to how well it works for you. Take care!! http://www.5daypouchtest.com/plan/theplan.html
