My name is Dee, and I have a problem.
Hi Dee,
I would not say that no one understands, but certainly only people who are experienng eating troubles can understand more. Things are not as easy as people think after surgery. Your body goes through drastic changes and your thoughts on food just are not always the same. it is hard to find that happy medium where we eat only what we should eat and when we should eat it. Cooking for one is never easy. Often times when it is just me I make salmon. I buy those pouches and they are high in protein and no bones (yuck). I add an egg and bread crumbs (can buy in a canister). It is a very high protein meal. Maybe one day you can buy a cook book for singles and see what you can find. Or maybe certain things you can make and freeze. No matter how you choose to do it you cannot live on cheese and crackers. Yeah, it is an easy choice, but you already know it is not giving you what you need. Only eating once a day is going to drain on your energy and you will feel down. Can you try to eat a little more today and make it high in proteiin, just for a little pick me up?
I know eating troubles are hard and some days even harder, but we have to look at it logically and force ourself to do it sometimes. I hope today is better for you. Take care ~ Terisa
I know and understand that it seems that we will lose weight if we do not eat, and if we do eat it means that we will not. It is so hard to wrap our minds around the fact that eating does not = cease of weight loss of weight gain. Your body must have a certain amount of calories a day in order to burn fat. If you stay within this certain number of calories you will lose weight in a healthy way. It is only if you consistenly go over and when you eat unhealthy foods that you will cease to lose weight or even gain weight.
I know that this seems hard to believe and when the fear sets in it is hard to eat, but when it comes time to eat a meal you must try to force yourself to think this way.
I went from eating 0-200 cal a day to now eating at least 600. It is so hard to do and I literally have to force myself, but I know logically this is what my body needs. After going through an adjustment period I am losing weight again. The great thing is that I am losing more now that I am actually eating. When I was starving myself my body was holding on to everything it could and it was hard to lose anything.
I was so happy to hear that you did eat today. I know you may not feel well and it is really hard at first, but I am sure you body is quite thankful and if you keep feeding it, your body will reward you.

Hi, Dee! I lived on cracker and cheese earlier in the year; that and yogurt, chili, and some soups. It can be boring! If I'm on the "run" now, I pack about 5 BBQ soy crisps (Nature's Promise by Stop & Shop) and an Atkin's Morning bar. DH and I tried a taste test of most of the Atkin's line and we only really like 3: Caramel Double Chocolate Crunch (tastes like Famous Choc. Cookies), Chocolate Peanut Butter Crisp (tastes like a Butterfinger), and Chocolate Chip Crisp (has a slight coconut taste to me) Have you tried any of these? I stash one in my purse so that I always have an option, especially if we go to a diner. I'll have a cup of soup and a bar. No one says 1 word!
So is the problem that you don't eat enough earlier, but later at night? Rather than not eating. It seems that you are concerned about your choice of foods; not so much the amount. Which one is closest to what's going on?
Sorry that you were feeling down. Hope that today was better! Ro
