Nausea and hunger
Hello,
I am almost 4 weeks post-op and everything has been going great until today. I probably had too much time between lunch and dinner, about 5&1/2 or more hours (I did drink about 14 oz of decaf with 4 oz of protein shake during that time), and I started to get what kind of feels like hungry, but mostly nausea. It kind of reminds me of a hunger I used to feel only very occasionally, pre-op, when my stomach was likely empty-empty. I ate dinner and still felt sick. About an hour later I ate another 4 oz meal because I still felt "hungry"/sick and I do think my breakfast and lunch were both pretty light, maybe too light. I am starting to feel better, but I am wondering what's going on. I have felt "hungry" 3 times in the last 3 days (but today was definately the worst), and I thought that wasn't supposed to happen for months. Should I even feel like I'm not eating enough at this stage? I have always been able to eat 4 ozs, starting with my very first meal. Does that mean that less than 4 oz will not be enough? Anyone else with this experience of nausea due to something other than the wrong food???
Hey Lisa, this sounds normal. One thing I have learned is that the pouch is continously expanding to some degree. I freak every single month because I can eat a little more or because I can eat more than what I read other's are eating.. but truthfully each person is different and you have to eat until your content. You should know what "full" feels like bu now- in the beginning for me it was that unmistakable sharp pain in my chest, as time went on, it was just the stuffed-oompa-loompa feeling, but FULL nevertheless. Once you have that, STOP. Simple as that. It is tricky in the beginning because your scared to stretch it, then again you are sabatoging your weight loss if you don'**** enough. (Less intake=less nutrients=slow weight loss) Your in the window right now where you can optimaze your loss, so you want to make sure your giving your pouch as much as you can give it. The Nausea, I would say just make sure your drinking enough, that's a sign of dehydration. I used to wake up daily with nausea from being dryed out overnight, really sucks at breakfast time, but with adaquete liquids, it stopped. You will eat more as time goes one, month by month in fact- I remember freaking out at 3 months because I could finish a whole lean pocket! You'll learn alot about food and what fills your pouch and what doesn't, what empties fast and what keeps you fuller longer... you just have to learn your body. I hope this helps you, just really key in to what your pouch is telling you! Good Luck!
