Welcome to the wonders of Weight Loss Surgery!!!! I had ZERO appetite for about 7 months following my surgery. I forced myself to eat when I was never hungry in order to get in my nutrients and keep up my strength. I found out quickly that if I skipped a meal, it was that much harder to eat the next one, so watch yourself and be sure to eat regularly, even if you don't desire food. Relish this time and take full advantage of your lack of appetite. As with most WLS folks, that appetite WILL come back and the force and vengence it brings with it could very well surprise you. If you utilize this time to really change your eating habits and focus on getting healthy, you will be thankful in the long-run. Until you are able to better tolerate foods, make sure that you get in as much water as possible so as not to dehydrate and keep the protein coming, in whatever form you can tolerate. Congrats and welcome to the losing side!!! Hugs! Kristi

Good Morning, Margo! The answer would be yes, yes and YES! Enjoy your lack of appetite right now, cause it will return! My appetite did not return until I was about 8 to 10 weeks out. I was pretty "textbook", thats to say I pretty much followed the norm of things. Once your appetite returns, and you start getting a little hungry again (mine came back gradually) you're going to wish you still were not hungry! This is the reason I lost most of my weight in the very beginning. I slowed down every month till I was about a year out. At that point I had lost about 80% of what I needed to lose. I know everyone is different, but at least this will give you some idea of what to expect.... Enjoy your "fast losing" months! It will change later on. No worries! Lyn

I am having the same issue!! I sit there and stare at my fridge and cabinets and have to FORCE myself to eat dinner. It's even hard to cook for my 4 kids because I hate food so much. I am 2 1/2 months post op - and I HOPE to get my tastebuds back and find something I can endure. Honestly I live on lots of peanut butter and crackers (the 100 calorie packs) and cheese & crackers (same 100 calorie packs) and protein shakes/bars. At least I get as much protein as I can this way. Anyone with tips or food ideas, feel free to share!!

I am a little over three weeks post op and I have the same issues; I eat anyway trying to follow the schedule given to me by the nutritionist but in the evenings I feel so full I am uncomfortable. I am not even able to get in all the liquids. I do manage to get in about 50-75 grams of protein. Is this uncomfortable feeling ever going to go away. I am stretching my meals out as much as 45-60 minutes.
