Ok, so you know I am 4 and 1/2 years out and had regained 80lbs. Well, I lost 10 last month by really following the rules as strictly as I could. I had a few unnecessary carbs, but for the most part I did follow the rules. I am struggling with the carbs now though and I really wanted a jump start to make the weight come off faster. I actually posted a question about getting a revision just due to weight gain, but since my pouch and stoma are intact, I don't see that as a possibility. Besides, in another 4 years wouldn't I be back in the same situation. It isn't my body that is being stubborn. A fellow patient of my surgeon posted a reply to me that our surgeon told her to go back to liquid diet if she ever sees a regain until the weight drops back off. I obviously can't follow a liquid diet for the whole 70lbs, but I am going to pick my self up by my big girl pants and try to suffer through the liquid diet for a week. I started it today and I am doing ok. I have so much head hunger though, it's crazy. However, it does put things in perspective. My tummy isn't actually hungry. It's my head and my cravings. Interesting discovery considering I feel hungry all the time, even within an hour or two after eating. So, maybe I don't really know the signs of hunger after WLS. Does anyone else know what we really feel when we are hungry? I don't recall feeling my stomach growl since I have had the surgery. Maybe once or twice, but not like before surgery. I started walking for 30 minutes the past 2 days and today I even jogged from one marker to another on the track. That was 1/8 mile. I don't see myself doing a marathon anytime soon, but still I celebrate the fact that I jogged! I went to GNC and bought several bottles of Isopure to try out. I looked at the website bariatriceating.com I would like to order a few things off there, but the things I want to try come only in a case. I need to find a nutrition/health food store that carries individual servings so I can sample it. I am basically just using this post to blog, but I invite anyone else who feels compelled to go all the way back to the beginning to join me in a 1 week liquid diet. It isn't easy, but it is clearing my mind a little and making me take notice of where my food issue really is...not in my pouch. I want to thank you guys for all the support and encouragement I have gotten this past month. I even noticed a reply on the main messageboard with a link to our forum because of how supportive we have been of each other. You guys are the best. I hope everyone else is having a fabulous week and staying on track to meet their goals. If anyone has any advice for me for the liquid diet, please share. I know the broth is going to get old in a day or so!
Thanks guys,
Angela

Great! Now today I did not have any trouble with the liquid only until around dinner time. I had to cook for my kids and I also didn't want to draw too much attention to the fact that I am not eating. So, I had a bowl of broth and 1/2 of a cucumber and 1/2 a small tomato with just a drizzle of dressing. Not completely liquid, but very very close. I mean, there is more to a glass of V8 than I had for dinner. So, I think I can do it. I just have to stay focused. At least I wasn't eating the carbs and snack foods I always crave. I think that I won't even buy those things anymore. There is really no reason my kids need it either. As for protein, I bought one each of the Isopure today. I drank half of a Blue Rasberry earlier. Yuk. I won't waste them because they were expensive and I know they are good for me. Still, I hope the other flavors are better. I'll catch you on Sunday when you are ready to start!

Well, girls..... I certainly applaude and fully support your liquid diet efforts 100%!! I wish I could be as brave and daring..... I wish you nothing but the best success!
Please be sure to post your efforts, struggles and successes throughout the duration... I am so very curious to know if this is the "ticket" to getting back on track for me?!?!??!
Hugs!
Kristi
I don't know if this helps but I was told the other night this statement and its so true so I just keep telling myself this:
When we have the surgery its 90% and 10% YOU
3 months out its 80% surgery and 20% YOU
6 months out its 60% surgery and 40% YOU
1 year out its 80% YOU and 20% Surgery!!!
People think its an easy way out but we just gotta remember its our respondsibility now not keep blaming it on the surgery thinking its a miracle cure and its gonna be fixed. I know thats the way my mind works but now I just keep telling myself 80% ME!!!! I GOTTA DO THIS NO ONE CAN THIS FOR ME!!!
Good for you two! I am about almost 3 years out (this February 24th) and have gained back 30 lbs. for which I beat myself up for constantly. My first post was on 1/5/07 about getting back on track and that week I went back to the basics, not completely liquid, but alot of protein, no carbs, and no sugar. It wasn't as hard as I thought and the fear of overeating the bad foods have kept me from cheating. I lost 3 lbs. in about a week and a half and I'm very excited. I think we're really lucky to have the tools from this surgery, but they didn't fix our heads, just our stomachs, so we are constantly battling "head hunger". Good luck to you both, keep me posted on how your doing...I'll be doing it right along with you!
