I have been looking up info on what I can eat on my 2 week liquid diet pre op. I knew I could have anything liquid, pop cycles, jello, pudding. But I have read that I can have thin oats, scrambled eggs, mashed potatos, and cottage cheese. Has anyone ate this while on their liq diet. Kinda sounds wrong to me. But Im starving!!!! Thanks All..

Hi Amanda! Call your surgeon's office to see what is acceptible. My surgeon did not require a liquid pre-op diet, so I'm not sure how to answer your question! Best of luck to you! Kristi

Amanda, I agree you need to check with your doc before you eat that stuff. I know from my experience those are considered "soft foods", not liquid. However, I don't know how in the world you are going to survive on popsicles and jello for 2 weeks. I actually just started a voluntary liquid diet because of a major regain. I am trying to jump start the weight loss by the second hand advice of my surgeon (through another patient). So, I am feeling your pain girl. I had so much broth today I can hear it swish around when I walk! I did have a small glass of milk, a small glass of fruit juice watered down, a small glass of V8 full strenght, and of course my protein drink. I made a yummy soup by boiling beef boullion cubes and half an onion sliced into big strips. (I only ate a few pieces of the soggy soft onion, but used it mainly for seasoning). I put a slice of smoked provolone cheese on top and it melted into a gooey delightful onion soup kind of like the one at Outback Steakhouse. I don't know if you could have a slice of melted cheese, but if you can have yogurt and pudding I would think you could. If you have any recipes or ideas to get us through this, please share. I am at the point where I am going to scrape a spoon of peanut butter in my mouth if I am not careful! It isn't true hunger though, the liquids are filling me up. It's that darn "head hunger" and the cravings for the snack foods. That is the whole reason I am doing this. I am going to reset my relationship with food. I am going to let go and just eat to sustain my life, not my cravings. I hope you get the answer to your question from your doc and that everything goes well with your surgery. I know that back when I had mine, there was no 2 week liquid diet. I was only told to do a clear liquid diet 24 hours before surgery and use the magnesium citrate stuff to "cleanse" my body. I remember having only diet Sprite, broth, and sugar free hard candy the day before surgery. At least it was only a day for me. Best of luck! Angela
