Welcome to this site.and welcome to the begining of your new life...or so , this is how I view it..... I am fairly new to the site and I really love it, I can't say enough about it. Everyone is so nice and caring, it's like a new family.. I really enjoy the journals, it allows me to see and gain from it...Some people are so strong and dedicated, others, like me, are scared and emotional..... I have a date March 30...I am really excited and SCARED...I've kind of weighed my options and, well, I'd rather see myself in ten years having had the surgery than not....The outcome and my future are in favor of surgery... Good luck and keep us posted, you have a lot of people behind you and willing to pray for you and your family...I have a five year old little boy to (Matthew), he and my two older kids are the most wonderful people in my life. Don't worry about your husband if you have you have a strong bond and he loves you, this will only bring you closer....you may want to take him to some seminars with you so he knows what it entails and that you will need him now, more than ever. Buena suert, chica, que Dios te Bendiga p.s. I posted some concerns on this site, it might be helpful to you: it says "any regrets" "carlbear". I had a lot of wonderful and helpful replys...

Hey Gabriela! I'm new too! I'm 33 and live in Long Beach, CA. I'm single with no kids. My insurance would not allow me to have surgery too, me and mom are trying to finance it ourselves. I just had my first consultation and I can't wait to get all the money together so I can move forward. I look forward to hearing about your story... Monica

Hi Gabriela, I am so happy to meet you. We don't get much activity here, but I really hope that changes as word gets around. I try to check it every day. Congratulations on getting your surgery. Your life will be so much better. I had mine on 1/24/2006 and have already lost 52 lbs. I am so excited and feel better than I have in years. Please keep us informed. I would love to hear how everything goes for you. Best wishes, Rosa

Topic: HOW HAS YOUR LIFE CHANGED?
This was a post from Melissa on another board. I thought it would be interesting to do it here. HOW HAS YOUR LIFE CHANGED SINCE HAVING SURGERY? My changes... 1. I can take nice long showers and enjoy them. 2. I can walk around the block. 3. I can go shopping without having to use an electric cart. 4. I have much more energy. 5. I can take care of my partner when she needs me (like this weekend when she was sick) instead of her always taking care of me. 6. I can do dishes and take out the trash and clean my own bathroom without having to sit down several times while doing it. 7. I can enjoy this beautiful weather we are having. 8. I can fit better in chairs. 9. My back and legs don't hurt as badly. 10.I am more comfortable wherever I am. 11.My family and friends are proud of me. 12.I am proud of myself. 13.I can get up out of a chair or couch easier. 14.I can get in and out of the truck easier. 15.I feel more self-confident. The amazing thing is that I still have so far to go, and I can't wait to see what other wonderful changes await me. Thanks Melissa! I think I will copy and past this in my profile. Big Hugs, Rosa

Topic: Hi I am new!
Hi my name is Gabriela, I am 25 years old and I currently weigh 330lbs. I am 5ft. 9in. I am scheduled to get surgery on June 7th in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. I am really excited about this. I will get a lap RYN there. I tried to get it done here in the states but my insurance wont let me. This surgery or any others like it are excluded by my husband employer. Oh I should also mention I am married and I have a 5 year old son. I have been married for almost 8 years now. I am Mexican American, my parents are from Mexico but I was born here in the US. I am happy to have found this forum for hispanics. I feel at home in here when I am reading others messages. I can relate. I have been always overweight but the majority of my weight I put on in the past 3 years. I have tried many diets and none ever worked or they would but I would gain the weight back and then some. My father offered to help me get a loan for my surgery in Mexico. Thanks to him I will begin my new life soon. Thanks to him I will grow old and watch my son become a man. And my husband has also been great with this whole thing too. Well atleast now he is I dont know how he might feel when he sees me start shrinking. I was overweight when I met him but I want be smaller than that. I dont know I guess I will take it one day at a time. Well thats all for now. I just thought I would introduce my self to all you guys and girls. I will come back soon and see whats going on your lifes. Thanks for reading. Gabriela
