Hi Carol, I am so excited for you. Sorry it took me so long to respond, but I haven't checked this board in a few days. By now you will have had your surgery. Please let us know as soon as you can how you are doing. I have you in my prayers! Hugs, Rosa

Thank you for your replys..My surgery went very well, no problems at all. I did have a bad evening the next day but I calmed down towards nightfall (I posted my experience on my journal). Already I see changes in my body (I have boobs)... I am very hungry and crave everything. My daughter left her unfinished meal of Panda Express, let me tell you it was hard not to eat it.. The next day at my mom's, she had just made a pot of pinto beans and they were eating it with quesadillas and homemade salsa....I miss my food so much...I crave everything I see; thin slice of cheese pizza, ceviche, KFC, bacon..ooohhhh bacon!!!!!!! How do you guys handle it ????? Help!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow I have my 1 week follow-up..I need to ask if I can start driving...my biggest concern. Wish me luck I hope I lost some My baby sis is having her surgery on April 18...yipppeee

Carol, so glad to hear everything went well with your surgery. Congrats to your sister--that's great now you'll have her along side through this journey. The food cravings are pretty crazy the first week. I would go to bed and dream about eating things I knew I shouldn't be eating...like chocolate M&M's and flautas...mmm Love those. I would watch the food network and I even felt like cooking (what? ME COOOOK?!) that's when I knew something was wrong.... It's temporary though, the cravings will subside and you will be able to eat regular foods in a few more weeks...probably by your 4th week. I have been able to eat beans, the cheese off the pizza (not the crust), ceviche (if you're tummy can handle it-they say the lime/lemon juice can irratate the pouch), chicken (I suggest you stay away from fried chicken--you won't miss it) and you can have bacon. YES, BACON. I was told it was ok to eat very crunchy bacon. I have only nibbled on some and it sits just fine in my pouch. So hang in there. The toughest is the first 3 weeks after that it DOES get EASIER!! Take care Elisa

Hola Elisa, Funny I go to bed dreaming of food, to.....I kind of like the fact that when I go out shopping, errands, or anywhere and and my first thought isn't "what can I eat/where can i go eat", my life doesn't really revolve around it......I do, however miss it so much...thanks for your comments. How are you doing? Good luck, Warm regards, carolbear

So glad you are doing well Carol. The food cravings will probably diminish after a while. I don't think they will ever go away, but it does get better. Hang in there and remember to get your fluids in and walk. Hugs, Rosa
