Saludos All, Thanks for creating this forum! Looking forward to connecting with other Latinas/os who have an interest in WLS. This March 29th will be two years since I've had my surgery. It's one of the best decisions I have ever made. My only only only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. Nonetheless, my diabetes is now finally under control and I am off all medications (glucophage, actos, and glyburide). More importantly, after almost 15 years of being together with my partner we are now seriously preparing to have children. If it doesn't happen then that's ok--we'll adopt. However, after suffering many years with PCOS I am now regulated thanks to the surgery. At least there's hope now. Having gone through this whole WLS process feel free to e-mail me personally with any questions whatsoever. I would love to provide whatever support and friendship I can. Adios! ~~~~Noemi Garcia Reyes

Noemi, WOW your transformation is amazing! You look like a totally differerent person. I also Congratulate you and your husband for being together 15 years. Really, through thick and thin...that's great! I hear a lot of people ending up in divorce or having marital problems after the surgery. I have been married to my hubby for 5 years (in April) and we are truly happy. I don't want that to change and I know it won't. As a matter of fact, we are both getting the surgery. He's even taken a few weeks off work to take care of me. I'm glad you came back to post. I hope we can get more people coming to post here. Take care, ((Hugs)) Elisa

Hi Noemi and Elisa, You both look wonderful! I can't wait until I get there too. My surgery is scheduled for this Tuesday at around 7:30 a.m. I am so excited. I am also excited about this message board. A few months ago I complained that there was no place for us in the Ethnicity section. OH responded so quickly it astounded me! They are so wonderful. Anyway, I am so happy we finally have a place of our own. Hopefully more will join us. Big Hugs, Rosa "La Cubana"

Elisa~~ After reading your profile, I can't believe how many things we have in common. Amazing. I'm also in education. Yes, I have been very fortunate to have someone who has been with me through literally and figuratively "thick" and "thin." I can honestly say that his love has been unconditional as it sounds yours has as well. Even through my many many years of being at my heaviest he never once made me feel any less. Some relationships have turned for the worst following surgery but ours has only shifted priorities. Whereas before we use to love to go out to eat and go toe to toe at buffets or all you can eat ribs now we love to go to the gym together, go for bike rides on the coast, walk around small towns like San Juan Bautista, hike through the Pinnacles Mountains, cook healthy meals at home, shop incessantly at Goodwill for clothes, and talk on and on about this new direction and life of ours. I wish you and everyone as much happiness because that is truly what is deserved especially following such a life altering transformation. Noemi Garcia Reyes
