Hiking anyone?

Anyone in Sacramento area that is sharing the journey of WLS that knows any hiking groups for us?

Hi Sandy, I saw this post but not sure if it is close to where you are... since I'm in Missouri. Half Dome hike is coming up Original Post by Christy H at 8:22 PM PST on 07/01/2005 A****er, CA Me and some of my WLS friends are hiking Half Dome on July 9th. We are meeting at the foot of the Mist Trail at 4:30 or 5:00 AM. Anyone that would like to join us...you are welcome to. This is a big deal for me. Since I'm just getting interested in hiking and a beginner, Half Dome would be quite the challenge! You go girl! I've heard about that place but never been there. It's a few hours away from Sacramento, CA where I am. Let me know how you handled it physically, in case the opportunity ever arises for me. I've gone online in my area for hiking groups but having trouble motivating myself to meet up with total strangers with nothing in common and feeling like I'm not as good as they are and my fears come into play etc etc. Alot of hikes also seem to have stream crossings and on my first hike I did it, (only cause I had too!) but it was STRESSFUL and I'm a chicken. Long and steep hikes I think I could handle though, since I walk every day my legs are in shape for that. Anyway....My thought is I wish I could hookup with WLS folks then I would be amoungst my own peers! You feel me? Sorry you live in Missouri! Thanks for your reply! Sandy

It would be great if you where here, we have a all women's back packing group. We plan about 2 to 3 big trips a year.. big for us is 1-2 over night stays. Then we also do day hikes around the area. It's really great to be with other females, and no children with us. That way we can vent about everything and get in our trips. I'm also kind of new at the back packing thing and these ladies are very skilled you know can start a fire w/nothing... LOL 2 of the ladies are very long time girl scouts which is great because I know where ever we go they will get me out of there!! Our group had all skill levels and we love just being out doors.
