Topic: RE: any have Multiple Sclerosis n PCOS?
I have MS too. I was diagnosed in 2008.
It is funny b/c I had finally got the courage to start going through all of my doctor's apointments and everything my insurance company wanted me to do (to get approved for the surgery) and then I lost my vision in my right eye (which came back thankfully). Of course after that I had to completely stop my lap band journey and go to Neuros to find out what was wrong with me.
After I finally found out that I had MS, I had numerous relapses and didn't know if the lap band or any type of weight loss surgery was for me. Right now I am on short term disability b/c I am numb from the waist down. I guess this probably wouldn't be the right time to go on the "6 month diet" for my insurance company, huh? Since I can barely walk, it is safe to say that I can't do any exercise program.
It sucks b/c based on the fact that I have PCOS, Hypothyroid, Sleep apnea AND MS, should be enough for the insurance companies to be like "oh yeah, she needs it". But, I know it isn't enough. Most of my problems aren't a dang "co-morbidity".
I am just glad I found this post b/c now I am not the only one with both PCOS and MS. Now it makes me wonder if these two are related somehow?

I have symptoms of multiple sclerosis and I am going to a new PCP tomorrow to get evaluated and tested....could also be other illnesses because the symptoms overlap. I had my gastric back in 2001. Is it safe to have an MRI...won't it mess up the titanium staples??

Hi Lora,I saw your post and decided to write you. I too have MS and researching if it is safe to have WLS. I have had a dozen or so people respond with MS and the general consensus was to not have lapband if you have an auto immune diease. There is supposed to some PILLS from Europe coming to the US in the future and lapband may interfere, as well as having foreign object in your body. You may want to go for a second opinion. I have been told by my doctor not to get lapband. Anyway do your research. I do not know too much but I am getting so much info off of this chat
Good luck to you with the MS

Topic: RE: Protein shakes?
I just had gastric bypass a few weeks ago. I have tried the Boost High Protein, as well as the Slimfast High Protein, I have tried the Unjury, I think the EAS tastes best but, they all taste really bad. I have a big can of Nectar Roadside lemonade next to me. I mixed it with some plain yogurt, I need a pair of nose plugs to kill the smell before I take Nectar or most other whey protein. Muscle Milk was okay. I wonder if it has sugar? Anyway, I am real funny about taste. I will be off my liquid and puree diet in a couple weeks I am hoping I can get enough protein by eating chicken, buffalo, beans, eggs, etc.. ??? what do you think?
