So I'm sitting here, freezing, trying to think of a topic, when it hits me (like the cold air from outside).

The winter is coming!  With it comes holidays, family gatherings, and for most of us, snow.  So here goes:

What is your favorite winter activity?  Is it something you couldn't do post op?  Is it something pre-op that you plan to continue to do after wls?  Is there something you haven't done and are trying this year?

I've never gone skiing.  I was too afraid of falling and breaking something.  But, this year, I plan on getting on a pair of skis and taking a lesson or two.  I love the winter, and am hoping that this year will be better than the rest.

Last winter, I took up snowshoeing.  I love it!

I would really like to try the snow tubing park that is near us.  I would have never done that when I was obese, but I think it would be a blast.   I used to ski when I was a teen ager but I am much to much afraid of breaking something to try that again.......lol   I have never been able to ice skate, even as a kid.

I've always wanted to try ice skating.  So I hope to give that a try this winter.  I'd love to go cross country skiing too.  We'll see how that works out as NONE of my winter coats, clothes, etc fit me now!

Oh are you kidding?  My favorite Winter Activity as a pre-op was STAYING WARM.  This will be my first Winter at a normal body weight.  And, from what I've experienced in the last few weeks, I think my new activity is going to be NOT FREEZING SOLID.  Seriously, I am COLD ALL THE TIME.  Is the new shape of things to come, or does this taper off in the future?

My favorite winter activity is walking outside when it's not absolutly fridged. when there's not much snow already on the ground and it's just lightly snowing. I feel like i'm walking in a snow globe I LOVE IT.

I've always loved watching ice skating and wanted to but didn't want to be the fat chick who could stay on her feet. so maybe in another 100lbs i'll try that lol. But here's a thought maybe i should start now while i still have a little bit of padding lol.

and i have to agree. i was in the 300's up and down...  and I could not wear a coat till it was fridged. I'm 276 now and FREEZING at 50 degrees lol... think my body is adjusting. although i'm sure i will still have a little bit of that thick nothern skin when it comes down to it..once i re adjust.

I live in Southern California - it was 100 degrees when I got off work at 5:00 p.m. tonight!!

On the subject of being cold, though, I'd like to add my two-cents' worth...  I freeze my AZZ off all the time!  I keep my A/C at home set at 80, and only then so that my daughter and my boyfriend don't swelter...   At work, I have a jacket on ALL THE TIME - and every now and then, I have to go outside just to thaw out!  I hate it!

Not a lot of winter activities around here - but I do enjoy having the energy to do all the Christmas shopping and decorating, etc...

As a kid we used to ski in NY.  I broke my knee and haven't been since.  I don't like the cold much anymore so it's a good thing I live in California.  Here the winter sport is kayaking.  I went a couple months ago for the first time and loved it.  We'll do more.
