Good Morning!!!
Since we are in fall and it's apple picking season:  What do you make post-op with all those apples?
If you aren't in a "apple picking" area what is your favorite fall-time dessert?

So far I have made 2 apple crisps; 1 WLS friendly & one for my family.  Last night I made my very first batch of applesauce (in the crockpot!!)  YUMMY!!!
Thinking apple pancakes for the kids this morning.

Mostly, I just eat them right off the tree.  I also like to spread some PB 2 on apple slices.  I haven't really cooked with them since WLS, but I may try to make some applesauce.  Yesterday, I did make a zucchini-blueberry bread that I modified by substituting the sugar with Splenda for Baking and the 1 cup of oil with 1/2 cup of canola oil and 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce.  Couldn't even tell that I had modified the recipe.

I'm in California, so not really an apple picking area - unless I drive to one of the apple farms quite some distance away!  I'm not a big apple fan...  I love pumpkin anything at this time of year!  Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie - of course, none of this is good for me, but maybe I'll search out some WLS-friendly recipes and give it a try...

Have you had Edy's Slow Churned Light PUMPKIN ice cream!!!!!  110 calories for 1/2 cup w/ 3g of protein and less than 10g of sugar.

I love apples!  I'm making an apple crisp on Wednesday, and I also make a mean apple pie.  I want to try a wls friendly one.  Also, I like red delicious apples with cheddar cheese - what a snack!

I've had no idea what to make.  I didn't know there was a WLS friendly apple crisp.  If you don't mind, can you send me the recipe for your WLS apple crisp and the applesauce in the crockpot.  I've never been much of a cook, but since the surgery I cook all the time and am wanting to try new things all the time.  Thanks!!!!

Hi Debi,
I use the apple crisp recipe from www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com 
The crock pot applesauce is so incrediibly easy:  fill a crock pot with peeled quartered apples.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and 1/4 cup of water.  Cooke on low for 8 - 10 hours.   Stir and cool.  Freeze as you want or serve warm with sugar free whip topping.  My kids LOVED it!!!
