I don't generally pay much attention to carbs. I worry about my protein intake and fat intake. When I eat carbs, they are usually fruits, vegetables and whole grain choices. The only time they give me trouble is if I choose to eat a cookie or something like that. Then my sweet tooth gets turned on immediately. But I keep those episodes to a bare minimum, they are planned, and once I eat the item, I don't let myself eat anymore.

In the beginning, I ate almost exclusively protein and then gradually worked in some veggies. Then, at about six months postop, I added a little bit of fruit and some whole grains. Now that I am close to goal, I don't worry so much about it, but I do make sure I eat my protein, at least 3 ounces at each meal, first, then veggies, then carbs if I want them. This way, my carb intake is very small.

This is the problem I've been having lately. I was told by my doc and nut not to eat carbs anymore (to limit them drastically). Ever since then, I've been craving them. And if I give in, the more I crave them. I'm hypoglycemic now and the more carbs I eat, the lower my blood sugar goes. So that's why I'm supposed to limit them. I'm trying so hard to not eat them, but some days find I can't shove enough down my throat (not literally, but feels that way).
When I "let go" and eat bad carbs, I usually spend the next two days going back to basics - strictly proteins and shakes... that's the only way I can break the cycle!
