I have been with my company for 14 years. Three months after surgery, I changed positions. It was supposed to be 50% travel. It is more like 75-80% travel. Pre weight loss surgery there is no way I could have traveled the way I do now. I was too big to fit comfortably in airplane seats, and I did not have the energy. Now I can sit in an airplane seat with the tray table down and my legs crossed!! I am on an airplane nearly every week, sometimes 2 trips a week. I love it!!

I have continued with the job I had but just recently got a part time job. I am not sure my WLS had any bearings on my getting it since the man who hired me expected me to come into the interview and hire me on the spot as the overweight person I was (he had no idea I had lost the weight). I do think people that I work with treat me differently now. Maybe it is just my imagination, not really sure. Sally

I got a new job. I went from being a direct support professional to teaching direct support professionals. I would never have stood in front of anyone to teach before WLS now I stand in front of groups to teach them. I'd still be stuck in a rut if it weren't for WLS.

Things haven't changed as far as my career except that I feel I present a more professional image now and as a result of that, I'm a bit more confident on the job.

I'm a full time homemaker, but I do have a few small part-time jobs. I'm happy with the way things are. Jules

I'm not in my career yet - last year of school - but I cannot wait for this semester to begin! I didn't have any problems with peers, but man oh man, will it be nice to not have to worry about fitting in a desk!
