I usually spend soooo much time getting things ready for the kiddies, I have to Wing it for myself.

I travel nearly every week. I always have string cheese and beef jerky. I ususally have some kind of snack, too. Nuts, etc. I try to stay somewhere that has a refrigerator. I generally eat my leftover dinner the next morning for breakfast. I walk as much as I can, and have exercise bands that travel with me.

I try to be careful, but I only packed food in the first few months after WLS.

Anytime I go away from home, I do my best to pack a stash of "safe" foods for me. Common things for me to bring along are protein bars, almonds, some on the go crystal light powders, and maybe some kay's naturals snacks. If I bring a cooler, I bring some yogurt and usually string cheese of some kind. As far as exersize, anytime we stay in a hotel, there's usually a pool and I love to get my exersize that way!! Swimming is my favorite form of exercise.

I usually make sure I have water flavorings, protein bars or good snacks, for meals, I just make the best choice possible Vivienne

I have not been away from home for more then a day. When I was I packed snacks that I could eat and lots of water and some protein bullets. Sally

How about preparing for three weeks in another country! When DH and I went to Australia, I went to a store when we landed and got some protein mix, milk and cheese sticks. I made sure I got my protein in everyday and water too. Aside from that though, I had to wing it.

I've only spent time away from home by being at my Mom's, so I bring up some of the special foods that get me through the day like my yogurt, cereal, skim milk and shake ingredients. If I have those items, I can do fine. The rest of the meals are basic anyway, so I can fit them into my eating plan.

Since I am so far Post Op I don't really pack any food items, I just try to watch what I eat even more than when I'm home. It seems like when I'm away from home I forget I had WLS and end up eating too much and being miserable. Have a great weekend! Sheryl
