How has your attitude changed towards exercise from pre-op to post-op and as your weight has decreased?

I tried to exercise before WLS, but was not as committed. I now make sure that I go to the gym at least 3 days a week. I always try to go more often, but am satisfied if I get there 3 days.

I would get excited before WLS and be committed for a while then I'd get frustrated and quit. After WLS I was doing great for a few years then got lax... now I'm back on the wagon and excited again! I know that the scale won't move if I dont... so that's my motivation! That and my wedding... lol! Sheryl

I couldn't walk to the mail box without breaks to catch my breath.. now I can walk a couple of miles with a smile.

I still don't like to exercise, but I'm ok with doing it. I enjoy walking when the weather is nice out. I prefer to just DO things, things I couldn't do before, things that increase my activity level. Such as, chasing my son with a squirt bottle, running up the stairs instead of walking.

It has not changed at all. I hate it as much now as I did pre-op. I can do it much easier, but that doesn't change the mental attitude or block I have towards it. Sally

Well of course, it's easier now - and it's not a chore. I enjoy walking, and running around Disneyland - even doing housework. I still don't care much for the workout thing, but I do it to try to tone up.

Not much, except it is easier. I have always walked and did some workouts with dvd's. Now, it's just easier, but I still have to make myself do it. Jules

Keeping in mind my answer to the 28th question..... yes I have increased my exercise so I will not start the upward slide on the scale! Karen
