If even after the weight loss you still can't or don't enjoy "exercising" how are you coping with that? Do you feel like you are the "only" WLS patient who isn't in love with an exercise program?

Honestly, I do enjoy exercising. Having said that, there are some days when I just don't feel like doing anything. I allow myself one day per week for that. Otherwise, I make myself do something, even if I'm not motivated. Usually when I do that, I have a loss on the scale the next day, which makes it all worth it.

I don't mind excersizing when it is stress-free...and what I mean by that is..when it is because I truly HAVE the time, WANT to be doing that and Feeling really good about doing it...but more times than not I am up at 5am (when I want to be sleeping)...cramming in a 5-mile bike when I would rather be walking with the dogs...but do to safety issues, etc..I have to do what I have to do. I have loosened my own reigns however..I was forcing myself to excersize 7-days a week...no more. I do my very best to get 5-good excersize days in...if I am short a week..I try to take it easy on myself..there was a reason..rain, hurt knee, sick..

I like to exercise but when I don't see a weight or inches lost I get very discouraged and ask myself why the heck am I killing myself getting up at 3:30am to do this...when all I do is gain.

I like to exercise, but then I was always athletic even when I was heavy, played three sports in high school and that helped keep my weight in the "over weight" catagory

I still don't like exercising, but I love DOING things...dancing, walking, hiking, getting out and having fun. So I guess that all counts as exercise too.

I am having a hard time with adding exercise in. I know I need to do it, but on my days off from work, after cleaning the house, laundry, and errands all I want to do is relax. But it is my new focus for now, so I hope I can improve my exercise amounts and frequency. Vivienne

I will be honest and give my true feelings regarding exercise...... I HATE EXERCISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I avoid it when I can but I KNOW I need it and have to do it. I belong to Curves but took the summer off. Now I haven't been exercising at all. I am hoping to read some positive words here to get me motivated......HELP

Love the exercise. I feel BAD if I skip it!

Well I could cut and paste my response to Sundays post. My inability to "enjoy" or "fall in love" with exercise has been a real problem for me. It has caused some real issues with how I precieve myself and this whole WLS journey. Before the surgery when reading Obesity Help it appeared that everyone developed this love for exercise and transformed into a completely different person (where exercise was concerned). When that didn't happen with me no matter how hard I tried and forced myself to do different things, it has made me feel like a failure. I have started counseling just this last week and I hope that it helps. It is just that no matter what I do or try I just don't enjoy any form of exercise (except swimming and since I have no pool to swim in and live in a community without a pool) that is out of the question. I do feel like I am the only WLS who feels this way. Sally
