What has been the hardest food item to entirely "give" up?

The hardest thing to give up I thought would of been pasta and bread but once I dumped I realized there is nothing worth having that feeling.

You know, pre-op, I stressed about giving up my DH's popcorn, Chinese food, onion rings and (for the first few months post-op - alcohol). Now that I'm post-op, I don't want to drink, and I still enjoy all of the other foods, but I eat VERY small amounts of them. I really don't feel deprived at all. The only thing I really miss, believe it or not, is being able to guzzle a big glass of cold water. I still have a really hard time with the water, of all things.

from an earlier post you will see I have a huge weekness for cheesecake and just HAD to have some...but that is a "I only have access to it once ina while" kinda food...on a daily front I find fightin' off the urge for ice cream is hard..I do let myself have some weigh****chers varieties..but it is not like Ben & Jerry's cherry garcia or phish food...I could put a pint of that away in one sitting post-op...I cannot be around that in any way , shape or form.

HI Laura, Have you tried Eggface's ricotta fluff made with ricotta and cheesecake pudding mix? It is a wonderful alternative to the real thing. Or the cottage cheese version? Ice cream is my weakness...I am thankful I like frozen greek yogurt just as much and have found lots of "toppings" that are satisfying.

pasta rice bread All foods that I didn't like much before the surgery. The ice cream I lived on, I don't even miss. Go figure!

There has not been one. I was able to give up the soda no problem, and have never even wanted one. I do not give up any foods, as I believe I had this surgery to be "NORMAL" I have been successful allowing myself to have something if I want it. I am fortunate enough that I do not have to eat the entire package anymore to be satisfied. I actually have girl scout cookies still in my freezer today. Last year, those would have been mostly gone almost before I got home. This surgery has given me the tools to control my food issues for the most part and for that I am for ever grateful.

I was a diet coke-a-holic. .but it hasn't been too bad. I really try to limit bread and pasta. . .actually no sandwiches and only a bite or two of pasta if I do have it. . I do miss it occasionally

I miss red meat, pasta & occasionally soda. I can't tolerate the red meat & pasta so it hasn't been difficult just really miss them. The soda I gave up about 3 months pre-op and occasionally want a nice cold Sierra Mist. The only thing that I have had a really difficult time "giving up" is ice cream...so I haven't. I eat NSA Edy's or Bryer's and keep it to the serving size and only have it once a week or so. I freeze greek yogurt instead and have found it so good but the head knows the difference.
