What was your worst fear when deciding to have this surgery? Did it come true? What did you do about it?

My worst fear about having weight loss surgery; am I going to spend all this money and then still have no success and fail at yet another attempt to lose the weight and get healthy. Luckily for me, it did not come true. I held true to everything and almost 16 months after having my Lap Band Surgery I have gone from 305# to 145#. Life is wonderful!! Michele

My worst fear was that I would go through all the pain and lose the weight only to regain it all back, or that I wouldn't lose at all. I'm only 6months out, and so far so good. My attitude towards food and eating have changed. I think that helps a lot.

Fear of pain. Period. Huge issue for me. I went for a couple of hypnosis sessions just prior to my surgery. I highly recommend this to anyone, for many different issues. Because of the hypnosis I have undergone, I now am able to sleep with my sleep meds, I also have increased motivation to exercise and things are just so much better.

Worst fear: death on the table. Nope..still here so it didn't come true. Just psched myself up and told myself I had to do this to live the life I wanted.

That it would be another failed attempt to lose weight. So far everything is fine. I keep working on it and trying to get past the negative thoughts. Jules

My worst fear was failing at the whole thing. Has it come true? Well I have not gotten to goal and each pound is harder to loose but I don't consider myself a failure either. I have lost 118lbs and am off my medication for my diabetes so I consider that a success. I still have the fear of failure with re-gain but I am trying to be positive and keep trying to stay on the right path. Sally

I think the worst fear for me, is that I would fail, at this and still be the 281 person that people ignored, I was invisible. It hasnt happened like that. I have lost 73.5 lbs. and I feel so much more confident, im not afraid to look people in the eye, and I am much happier now. Vivienne
