What things can you do now that you couldn't before surgery and of those what is the most amazing to you?

I don't know if this is "most amazing" to me. I'm having a lot of amazing moments lately, but here goes: I'm a Mental Health Counselor. I work on a unit with kids ages 10-17. Our rooms are equipped to hold three beds each, most of them. Sometimes we have to move beds, mattresses, etc., from room to room for different reasons. Ok, so usually, if I have to do this stuff, I'm sweating and huffing and puffing within seconds, right? So the other day, I had to moved TWO beds with mattresses (these are the heavy, "this end up" kind of furniture, no wheels on the beds) along with TWO dressers (same construction as the beds). I didn't even think about it, I didn't get puffed or sweaty, and I PICKED THE MATTRESSES UP AND CARRIED THEM INSTEAD OF DRAGGING THEM. WOW! Life is freakin' amazing!

There are soooooo many things I can do now that I couldn't before, everything from small things like tying my shoes easier, walking without losing my breath to big things like my diabetes. The most amazing thing is the fact that I was told by my doc that I am no longer considered diabetic! I've been diabetic for around 12 years. I was taking 14 pills and 2 shots a day before surgery. Now, nothing, no diabetes!!!! I still can't believe it!

Walk up a flight of stairs without needing to sit down in order to catch my breath when I got to the top. also, tie my shoes without holding my breath.....seems like I couldn't tie them and breathe at the same time. But now, I can bend over and tie them like a kid!!!!

So many things: - cross my legs - walk and run (a little) for a good distance - shop in a regular store One of the things that I most recently realized and is most amazing to me is that I can wear heels all day now, and my feet never hurt. I think that this is the most amazing thing to me because I never correlated my shoes and their lack of comfort to my weight.

I am with many of the other posters. There are so many things that I can do now that I couldn't before that I am not sure where to start. Walking and climbing stairs without getting winded. Crossing my legs. Working in my flower garden for more then 5 min without getting exhausted. Walking into a room and NOT feeling as if the whole world has stopped to stare at the "fat lady". Sally

I just started riding a bicycle again. Today I rode my bike to work, worked 12 hours on my feet for most of it, and rode home again. That in and of itself is amazing, but the fact that I am still able to move is pretty awesome too. Vivienne
