It goes without saying that this journey has not been "the easy way out." What has been a surprisingly easy aspect of the journey through WLS?

It has been very easy to live with the changes in eating and drinking and exercising. I thought it would really impact my life so much more, but the changes just seem natural now. I still struggle BIG time with head hunger and want to graze and want to eat the foods that lead me to wls in the first place, but most of the time I can resist. And when I do eat foods I shouldn't, I eat a MUCH smaller portion than before.

The easiest adjustment I have had is the portion sizes...I get full and have had enough end of it. I'm having a hard time adjusting what I can't eat, what I should eat, what I shouldn't eat and how everyone seems to what me eat all the time. This is in no way "the easy way out".

For me this entire journey has been easy. I have not had any issues with food, and am able to eat and drink anything I want. If I have to find one thing that is "hard" it is remembering that the key to my success is measuring my food so that I can keep a hand on portion sizes. Gayle

I thought it would be really hard to get all my fluids in with such a small stomach. Somedays it a little harder than others, but on days when I exercise, it's really easy, and this surprised me.

I think getting used to eating smaller portions and healthier foods has been easy for me. I just seem to want to eat better and by having the surgery, I have had no problem doing this. I still crave chocolate at times but now I can control it more.

The suprisingly easy part for me has been the food. Before I had the surgery, I was very anxious over the idea of giving up certain foods that I loved, like my husband's popcorn and Chinese food, both of which I ate at least twice a week. Well, I really have no interest in eating either of those things anymore. I still occasionally do eat them, but I can control the portions much better. I probably have popcorn once every couple of months. In the case of the Chinese food, we go out to our favorite Chinese restaurant every Friday night. I used to live for Fridays -- and ate like I would never see food again. Now I wish we didn't go, but my husband really loves it. It's our date night, so that's why I enjoy going now -- not to eat, but to have that hour with him where we can sit and talk without any interruption.

The first six months were easy. All you had to do is breathe (basically) to lose weight.
